INTRODUCTION

Indonesia is a country that have a lot of geothermal resources, whether petroleum,

natural gas, geothermal, or mineral. Indonesia has sufficient mineral reserves to exploit. Along

with advances in technology and science, the mining world continues to experience growth and

face various problems and challenges.

Despite Indonesia has abundant mineral resources, Indonesia still have some obstacles

in mining process. Most Indonesian people still do not understand well the benefits of minerals

found in the country. Mining products are also widely marketed without being processed first

into a commodity that is more economical. In addition, the technology for the exploitation and

processing of minerals have not been used optimally due to technological limitations.

Therefore, the Society of Economic Geologist of Padjadjaran University - Student

Chapter engaged in mining geology held Field Trip 2017 "Alteration and Mineralization

Identification in Batu Hijau World Class Cu-Au Porphyry Deposit, PT Amman Mineral Nusa

Tenggara (AMNT)". Hopefully with this event can provide understanding and solution so that

can advance mining in Indonesia.

PURPOSE

This fieldtrip aims to educate students about alteration and mineralization in Batu Hijau

Porphyry deposit, PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (AMNT) through outcrop study

and core description. Batu Hijau is one of world class porphyry Cu-Au deposit in

Indonesia. This location was selected because Batu Hijau has very good outcrops that

ideal for learning, especially about alteration and mineralization in porphyry deposit. The

location also quite close to our campus compared with another world class deposit in

Indonesia. Participants will be consisting of professor, professionals, and students.

TIME, PLACE, AND PARTICIPANT

Field Trip held on PT. Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara on 27-29 October 2017.

Participants who attended Field Trip numbered 29 participants with 2 speakers from UNPAD

namely Mrs. Prof. Ir. Mega Fatimah Rosana, M.Sc., Ph.D. and Mrs. Aton Patonah S.T., M.T.

Field trip participants come from students and professionals, the students are 27 people and 2

professionals.

DESCRIPTION

The event runs for 3 days from 27-29 October 2017 (Field Trip of PT Amman Mineral

Nusa Tenggara). Participants come from students and professionals. Events generally take

place in accordance with the plan, although there are some obstacles, both from time-lapse and

in other terms, but activities can still run according to the criteria and remain according to

rundown.

The Total Outcome of the program is 5,490.69 USD, it was less than the requested

funding, because we cut the budget to reduce the cost of registration. There are some

changing plans of the budget planning, such as :

The participant become 31 person, because that was the nominal approved by

the company

The profesional just 1 participant

Total Outcome is less than the requested one, because we need to reduce the

cost to get the participant ( Student Financial Problem become the reason )

Thankfully to SEG Stewart R. Wallace Funding Program which already given 2000

USD for financial supporting, it was very usefull for the student that joined the

fieldtrip because their willing to get more knowledge was successfully achieved. All

the 2000 USD diverted to reduce registration fee, with details :

2000 USD / 30 = 66 USD Each student funded

PASCA EVENT

After the implementation of Field Trip 2017 PT. Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara, Fieldtrip

participants have obtained information related to mining geology especially regarding the

potential of various natural resources in the Indonesian mining sector.

We hope that the event that has been implemented can be delivered well. We strongly

welcome suggestions and constructive criticism so that the next Field Trip can be done better

than now.
