JURUS – JURUS TOEFL
TOEFL merupakan singkatan dari Test Of English as a Foreign Language. TOEFL adalah
standardisasi kemampuan bahasa Inggris seseorang secara tertulis (de jure ) yang meliputi tiga
aspek penguasaan Listening ! "riting dan #eading . $istem penilaian TOEFL menggunakan
kon%ersi dari setiap ja&aban yang benar. 'ilai TOEFL tertinggi yang bisa dicapai seseorang
adalah *.
Tujuan Test TOEFL
TOEFL memiliki dua tujuan umum yaitu +kademik dan ,eneral. -alam bentuk yang sama!
sertifikasi rekomendasi TOEFL bisa gunakan untuk kedua hal tadi. +kademik adalah
menggunakan test untuk tujuan pendidikan! penelitian atau yang berhubungan dengan
kegiatan akademis di luar negeri! ataupun di Indonesia. ntuk paska sarjana! biasanya nilai
minimal adalah **/. $edangkan untuk $0 adalah *//. ntuk tujuan general! 1ada umumnya
digunakan untuk tujuan pekerjaan! kenaikan pangkat atau tugas kerja. 2anyak perusahaanyang memasang standar bahasa Inggris karya&annya dengan melihat nilai TOEFL 3 nya.
mumnya! nilai TOEFL minimal adalah *// untuk kenaikan pangkat standar.
$epanjang yang saya temui! kisaran nilai TOEFL rata 3 rata orang Indonesia dengan jenjang
pendidikan minimal $0 sangat fluktuatif. 2ahkan ada beberapa yang tidak mengetahui apa dan
untuk apa itu TOEFL. Tidak demikian dengan para pengambil jurusan bahasa Inggris semasa
kuliah. 4inimal mereka tahu! apa itu TOEFL. 4eski demikian! nilai TOEFL seorang mahasis&a
atau lulusan jurusan bahasa Inggris sekalipun tidak dijamin tinggi.
$ecara umum! fluktuasi nilai TOEFL rata 3 ratanya berkisar antara 5// sampai //. $etelah
saya melakukan obser%asi kepada teman6teman yang melakukan tes TOEFL ternyata mereka
mempunyai permasalahan yang rata6rata sama yaitu tidak adanya panduan dalam mengerjakan
soal6soal TOEFL tersebut. 1engerjaan soal TOEFL sebenarnya tidak terlalu sulit kalau saja kita
mengetahui jurus6jurus untuk memecahkan soal tersebut.
