From the desk of National President Shalom ... dan Merdeka!
Pada bulan Agustus kita akan memperingati
Hari Ulang Tahun Kemerdekaan Republik
Indonesia, tepatnya tanggal 17 Agustus 2016.
Merdeka membuat kita tidak terikat akan semua keinginan dunia;
membangun kerajaan sendiri, memperkaya diri untuk tujuan pribadi,
bebas dari keterikatan dosa-dosa, melainkan kemerdekaan untuk
menyatakan kemuliaan Tuhan dimana kita berada.
Christian Chambers of Commerce) Indonesia.
Sampai jumpa di edisi bulan depan. Tuhan Yesus memberkati anda
sekeluarga.

Supernatural
Transformation
via the Bible:
A Story of the
Doolittle Raiders
of WWII
By Stephen McDowell
An Excerpt from The Bible: Divine or Human?
Evidence of Biblical Infallibility and Support
for Building Your Life and Nation on Biblical
Truth
Following the bombing of Pearl Harbor on
December 7, 1941, a group of American
pilots known as the Doolittle Raiders was
sent to bomb Japan. Some of them were shot
down, captured, and put in prison, where they
suffered greatly. They were given meager
food, so little that some slowly starved to
death. They were kept in dark, cold, small
cells; they were yelled at, beaten, and kicked.
Many became diseased and received little
care. The anger and hatred toward the
guards due to the tortuous conditions
consumed many of the prisoners. This went
on for two years.
After one prisoner died from starvation, Bob
Hite wrote a letter to the prison governor
complaining of their intolerable treatment,
reminding him it was against all Geneva
conference rules. Among other things, he
wrote: “If you can’t do anything useful, will
you please give us the Holy Bible to read? He
intermittently attended church growing up,
though really knew little of the faith or the
Bible. None of the other captives were true
believers, and some were even put off by
Christianity.
His letter may have done some good, as
afterwards their rations improved and they
were allowed to share a few books, one being
the Bible. They decided to let each man read
the Bible for three weeks before passing it on.
Bob Hite said: “it was the first time that I had
ever – I think any of us – the first time any of
us had really read the Bible from cover to
cover. I was sort of like a man being in the
desert and finding a cool pool….Instead of
hating this enemy that we had such hate for,
we began to feel sorry for them….It was
almost a miracle to realize the sort of thing
that happened to us…we were no longer
afraid to the extent that we had been…we no
longer had the hatred.”
Just prior to having his turn with the Bible,
one of the prisoners, Jake DeShazer, was
yelled at by a guard. Rage had been growing
within Jake over his two years of
imprisonment, so without thought he yelled
back. The guard hit him on the head with his
fist. Jake kicked him back, with the guard
responding by hitting him with his steel
scabbard. Jake then threw a bucket of dirty
mop water that he had been using to clean
the floor on the guard. Oddly, the guard only
yelled back. “It is strange that he didn’t cut off
my head,” Jake said.
Just after this incident, the Bible was passed
on to Jake. This experience would turn his life
upside-down. He began to read the small
print from the dim light coming through the
small vent at the top of the cell. “The words of
the page came to life. It seemed as though
they were written just for him.” In the stories
he read in the Old Testament and especially
in “the story of Christ’s suffering in the New,
he felt that God was indeed present, reaching
out for someone abandoned, as mistreated,
as hopeless as he was.” In his three weeks
with the Bible, he spent every minute reading
and memorizing all he could.
“On June 8, 1944, he read for a second time
Romans 10:9: ‘That if thou shalt confess with
Page 4
thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe
in thine heart that God hath raised him from
the dead, thou shalt be saved.’ Jake prayed:
‘Lord, though I am far from home and though
I am in prison, I must have forgiveness.’ As
he prayed constantly, thinking deeply about
the message of the Bible, he was overcome
with a tremendous sensation: ‘My heart was
filled with joy. I wouldn’t have traded places
with anyone at that time. Oh, what a great joy
it was to know that I was saved, that God had
forgiven me my sins….Hunger, starvation,
and a freezing cold prison cell no longer had
horrors for me. They would only be for a
passing moment. Even death could hold no
threat when I knew that God had saved me.
Death is just one more trial that I must go
through before I can enjoy the pleasures of
eternal life. There will be no pain, no
suffering, no loneliness in heaven. Everything
will be perfect with joy forever.’” The central
message of the Scriptures became real and
alive to him. In the midst of the worst of
conditions, he experienced a supernatural
contentment only possible in Christ. There is
no worldly explanation for this supernatural
transformation. It affirms the divine nature of
the Bible.
The more he read the more he realized he
needed to change deep down inside. He
especially needed Christian love. He felt that
while his sins had been forgiven through
Christ, he would need to forgive as well. A
test soon came his way. One day while
returning from exercise, the guard yelled at
him to hurry, slapped him, pushed him into
his cell and slammed the door on his bare
foot breaking some bones. As he sat on the
stool, anger beginning to rise, he thought God
was testing him somehow in this.
The next morning when the guard was back,
he first considered revenge but remembering
the lesson, responded by saying “good
morning.” The guard looked at him strangely
since he had never heard Jake say this.
Morning after morning Jake tried to be polite
and friendly. Finally, the guard came over to
him and spoke. Jake asked about his family.
This was the beginning of a complete change
of treatment from this one guard. From then
on the guard treated Jake well, even bringing
him food. “I knew then that God’s way will
work if we really try, no matter what the
circumstances.”
DeShazer was held captive for about one
more year, during which time God did other
miracles to keep him alive. After the war,
Jacob DeShazer and his wife would serve as
missionaries to Japan for 30 years. Through
their ministry many Japanese were
converted, including two of the guards at his
prison, and 23 new churches were started.
He also worked closely with Mitsuo Fuchida,
who had led the air attack on Pearl Harbor,
and after the war became a Christian. Similar
stories to that of Bob Hite and Jacob
DeShazer have been repeated hundreds of
millions of times since Jesus Christ, the living
Word of God, came into the world. The
supernatural transformation of men who hear
its message shows us that the Bible is
powerful. The Bible is unique among all
books ever written. It is more than the mere
words of men. It is in fact divine. The Bible is
God’s Word and it is infallible.
TEN Differences between Servant Leaders and Self-Serving 'Kings' Chuck Lawless
What separates a servant leader from a self-
serving king?

As Christian leaders, we are called to serve others
even as we're completely reliant on God. Too
often, though, a leader who was once a servant
wrongly transitions into being the king of his own
kingdom. Here are some signs that a leader has
become the "king":
1. Even if he invites discussion from church leaders, he does not change his mind. The
"discussion" is in name only, as his decisions
are already made.
2. He sees everyone else as expendable. If he's worried about church members leaving, you'd
never know it. In fact, he can usually hyper-
spiritualize the reasons that others leave.
3. He is seldom, if ever, wrong. Kings somehow convince themselves that nobody can do
things as well as they can. Everybody else still
has something to learn.
4. Staff members tend to stay for only a short time. Kings are good at recruiting strong staff
members, but not so good at keeping the best
of them. Kings want dependents more than co-
laborers.
5. He seldom allows others to preach. The pulpit becomes his platform, and he rarely
gives up that position, even for a single
Sunday. He's most unwilling to share that
space with gifted speakers he might perceive
as more gifted than he.
6. He treats others as "subjects." That is, people become a means to an end: tools to
help him build his kingdom more than
brothers and sisters in Christ.
7. He demands unquestioned loyalty. Even the slightest sign of disagreement is considered
rebellion.
8. He expands his kingdom broadly, but not deeply. After all, deeply developed kingdoms
require serious discipleship—and genuine
disciples would recognize the problem with a
king's leadership style.
9. Often, those who know him best question his spirituality. That's not a surprise, though.
Kings depend on themselves, not God.
10. He does not consider leadership succession. He might talk about retirement at
some point, but it's often just talk. Kings don't
give up their position easily.
Lest we judge the "king" leader too seriously,
though, all of us are susceptible to moving in this
unhealthy direction. Pride is always a temptation
for Christian leaders.

Ten Tips to
Transform a Good
Leader into a Great
Leader
Brad Lomenick
Transform from a good leader into a great leader.
It's middle of the year, and as such, here are 10
reminders of ways to raise your leadership level.
Hopefully these motivate you as well as inspire
and challenge your team.
I would recommend talking through each of these
with your team, and challenging your team to live
these out with intentionality over the next few
months.
1. Lead with Authenticity. Be real. Human.
Approachable. Guard against hubris.
http://ministrytodaymag.com/outreach/growth/23020-10-tips-to-transform-a-good-leader-into-a-great-leaderhttp://ministrytodaymag.com/outreach/growth/23020-10-tips-to-transform-a-good-leader-into-a-great-leaderhttp://ministrytodaymag.com/outreach/growth/23020-10-tips-to-transform-a-good-leader-into-a-great-leaderhttp://ministrytodaymag.com/outreach/growth/23020-10-tips-to-transform-a-good-leader-into-a-great-leaderhttp://ministrytodaymag.com/component/search/?searchword=Brad%20Lomenick&ordering=newest&searchphrase=exact&areas%5b0%5d=authors
Page 6
2. No sideways energy. Communicate. Focus.
Guard against silos and wasted energy.
3. Stewardship. Each of us should embrace and
understand our role in what we have been given
and required to manage and uphold through the
current platform we have, not just the leader, or
the person in charge.
4. Expertise. See myself as an expert, both in
individual responsibility and organizational
responsibility.
5. Receive what we create. Become our own
customer. Be passionate about allowing what you
do to actually be something that you appreciate
being the customer of. Guard against the
mundane.
6. Guard against cynicism. Behind the curtain,
we have to guard against this. Fight it at every
turn. In addition, call it out if we see it.
7. Excellence. We are the best in the world
(confidence, not arrogance). Act like it. Maintain
a standard. Guard against being lazy and
pessimistic.
8. Serve one another. Jump in and help. Have a
"get it done" mentality. And not just at events or
special occasions—all the time. Be willing to do
whatever it takes.
9. Protect and maintain a "make it happen"
culture. Guard against the phrase "it's not my
job," and guard against creating cliques.
10. Get better every day. Guard against
complacency. Keep learning and leaning into
constant and continuous improvement.

International Christian Chamber of Commerce (ICCC)
Keilahian TUHAN Yesus Kristus. Kelahiran-Nya
dari rahim seorang Perawan. Karya penebusan dosa manusia melalui kematian-Nya diatas kayu
salib. Kebangkitan-Nya.
Prayer for
Business Takes
Discipline
Written by Sue Miley
I find that prayer takes discipline. I don’t mean
that prayer is a spiritual discipline. It is. But on a
more practical level, for our own purposes, we
need to be disciplined to consistently pray about
what is important to us. As Christian business
owners, we all pray, and we look for ways to pray
about and for our business.
https://crossroadcoach.com/author/smiley/https://crossroadcoach.com/5-resources-to-enrich-your-prayer-life/https://i0.wp.com/crossroadcoach.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Prayer-Takes-Discipline-Blog-1.png?ssl=1
Page 8
I was looking through a bunch of old journals this
weekend. I usually write all of my prayers to God
in my journal. Actually, I write everything to God
in my journal and call it prayer! In reviewing
journals from 10+ years ago, I realized how much
more disciplined I was about praying for my
business. The interesting thing, since I was
journaling (aka praying) so consistently back then,
is that I could also see the impact on me, my life
and my work through prayer.
There are so many practical benefits to
consistently praying to God about our
business. Here are my observations:
I was proactive about lifting up my clients and
business rather than reactively begging God to
fix my messes–sincere dependence and
petition.
I could see a positive shift in my mood by the
end of the journal entry/prayer–it was hope
and peace.
I could see answers to prayer through
subsequent entries–God’s faithfulness.
I still pray about my business regularly, but
sometimes on a different rhythm. I am not as
consistent or proactive. I pray more
randomly. Different disjointed topics many times
reactively. Which isn’t as effective and, quite
honestly, is not what I believe.
I believe that Christ should be the center of my
business. He gave me the vision for it and He has
led me toward the vision.
I also know that I am dependent on Him for
everything. I know I need to do my part, but I
need to do it in obedience to His will. If I am not
bringing my business to him proactively, this is
not true dependence.
And, the purpose of my business is to glorify God
and to help His kingdom. Bottom-line, without
Christ at the center of it all proactively, I am not
going to be perfectly aligned.
I know everyone’s business is different and will
therefore need different prayers, but, in some form
or another, if you are disciplined in praying for
our business, my pattern may work for you:
1. Thank God for your business. When we truly believe that our vision and business are from
Him, we will thank Him consistently.
2. Ask for guidance and direction toward His will for your business. This means seeking
His path and plans for you consistently so that
you stay on the right track, rather than waiting
to pray for help to return to His path.
3. Lift up the specific needs of your customers, your staff, and other stakeholders. Pray for
others.
4. Lift up specific organizational issues that you want God’s wisdom and discernment for in
your decision-making.
5. Ask God for favor in your business. Ask for doors to open. Ask for help. Ask Him to
work through you.
6. Give it to God. Once you have prayed, trust that the Holy Spirit will lead and guide
you and let go of the habits of our flesh
worrying, controlling, and indecision. Move
into your day with a heart of obedience and a
mind ready to listen.
I know that God hears our prayers even when all
we can do is groan. However, the discipline is for
us. Being disciplined in praying for our business
reminds us where our business came from, Who
we are really working for, and Who is truly in
control.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in
everything by prayer and supplication with
thanksgiving let your requests be made known to
God.” Philippians 4:6
