Alfisol� Menyebar di semiarid (beriklim kering
sedang) sampai tropis (lembap);� Tanah ini terbentuk dari proses-proses
pelapukan, serta telah mengalami pelapukan, serta telah mengalami pencucian mineral liat dan unsur-unsur lainnya dari bagian lapisan permukaan ke bagian subsoilnya (lapisan tanah bagian bawah), yang merupakan bagian yang menyuplai air dan unsur hara untuk tanaman.
Alfosil (lanjutan)� Cukup produktif untuk pengembangan
berbagai komoditas tanaman pertanian mulai tanaman pangan, hortikultura, dan perkebunan. Tingkat kesuburannya (secara kimiawi) � Tingkat kesuburannya (secara kimiawi) tergolong baik. pH-nya rata-rata mendekati netral. Di seluruh dunia diperkirakan Alfisol penyebarannya meliputi 10% daratan.

Gelisol� Terbentuk dalam lingkungan permafrost
(lingkungan yang sangat dingin).� Dinamakan Gelisol, karena
