ABOUT FNBE AND INTRO TO DESIGN
FOUNDATION IN NATURAL AND BUILT ENVIRONMENTIS A COURSE THAT INTRODUCE STUDENTS TO DIFFERENTFIELD OF STUDY IN THE NATURA AND BUILTENVIRONMENT. THEY WOULD LEARN NECESSARYKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS THAT WILL HELP THEM TOPROGRESS TO DEGREE IN ARCHITECTURE OR QUANTITYSURVEYING.

ALONG WITH DESIGN ELEMENTSAND PRINCIPLES, I ALSOEXPLORED WITH THE RULES OFCOMPOSITION:
GOLDEN RATIO RULE, RULES OFTHIRD AND GRIDDED.
FOR THE RULE OF THIRDS SHOWN ON THE RIGHT, I TOOK APHOTO OF MY FATHER, AND MYTWO BROTHERS. . THEIMPORTANCE OF THISCOMPOSITION IS THAT THE LINESHAVE TO INTERSECT WITH THESUBJECTS.
THE VERTICAL LINE INTERSECTS THROUGH THEMIDDLE OF THE SUBJECTS AT THE LEFT AND RIGHT.WHILE THE HORIZONTAL LINE INTERSECTS WITH THESUBJECT AT THE MIDDLE, RIGHT THROUGH HISFOREHEAD.

WE WERE ALSO REQUIREDTO EXPERIMENT WITHSHAPES AND CREATEPATTERNS.
EXPERIMENTED WITH THESHAPE HEXAGON. FIRST, IMAKE A SIMPLE OUTWORKWITH THAT HEXAGON,PLAYING WITH DIFFERENTLINE WEIGHTS.
FOR MY ARTWORK, I CREATED A BIGGER HEXAGON BYOVERLAPPING SMALLER HEXAGON ON TOP OF EACH OTHER.
THEN I EXPERIMENT WITH PATTERNS. I PLAY AROUND WITHTHE ARTWORK BY REPEATING IT MANY TIMES AND CREATINGA HARMONY AND RYTHMIC PATTERN.

UNDERSTANDING THE WORD: RAGE AND VICIOUS
IN A GROUP OF FOUR, WE HAD TO CREATE A SERIES OF4 T-SHIRTS THAT RELATES TO OUR THEME: RAGE ANDVICIOUS.
RAGE IS MADNESS, ANGER AND SOMEONE OUT OFFRUSTRATION.
VICIOUS IS THE ACT OF RAGE. IT IS VIOLENT, EVIL ANDDANGEROUS.
OUR SERIES WERE INSPIRED FROM THE STYLE OF PUNKROCK.
PUNK ROCK CONVEYS THE MEANING OF REBELLION,CRAZY AND PURE MADNESS. THE STYLE CONSISTS OF ALOT OF METAL MATERIALS SUCH AS SAFETY PINS ORCHAINS.

PICKING THE RIGHT MATERIALS AND EXPERIMENTING IT
SO WE CHOSE TO WORK WITH ONLY 1 MATERIALS : SAFETY PINS.
WE WORKED WITH DIFFERENT SIZES OF SAFETY PINS. WE FOUND OUT THAT SAFETYPINS HELP ATTACED TWO PIECE OF CLOTH TOGETHER. IT ALSO CAN ACT AS THEMISSING PIECE OF THE SHIRT. WE PUT THE SAFETY PINS CLOSE TOGETHER UNTIL IT CREATE A SPIKE ON TOP OR LIKEA MOUNTAIN. WE ALSO FOUND OUT THAT SAFETY PINS CAN CREATE A CHAIN BY LINKING WITHOTHER SAFETY PINS.

THE IDEA BEHIND "THE REBELS" SERIES
OUR IDEA IS TO SHOW THE DEVELOPMENT OF RAGE AND VICIOUS THROUGH THE STYLE OF SLASHES AND SPIKESON THE SHOULDER.
AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICTURE BELOW THAT SHOWS THE 4 SERIES, THE SLASHES INTENSITY INCREASE AS IT GETSTO THE END. THE SPIKES ON THE SHOULDER FIRST APPEAR IN THE SECOND SHIRT AND THEN CHANGE TO AVIOLENT ON AT THE FOURTH SHIRT. WHEN I SAID VIOLENT, I MEANT THAT WE INVERTED THE SAFETY PINS ANDSHOW THE SHARP PART.

"THE REBELS" T-SHIRT SERIES (FINAL OUTCOME)
WE APPLIED THE ELEMENTS: DIAGONAL AND SLANTED LINESAND PRINCIPLES : DYNAMIC, HIEARCHY, EMPHASIS AND BALANCE ASSYMETRICAL.
THE FINAL OUTCOME SHOWS US WEARING THE SHIRT ITSELF. WE GOT INTO A CHARACTER FULL OF RAGE ANDVIOLENCE DURING THE FASHION SHOW EVENT.

THE DESIGN PROCESS JOURNAL IS LIKE A RESEARCH AND IDEA GENERATING PROCESS FOR OUR FINAL PROJECT.
I GOT THE TOY CHARACTER JOY FROM THE MOVIE "INSIDE OUT".FROM MY RESEARCH, JOY IS A VERY CHEERFUL AND BUBBLY CHARACTER WHO IS IN A MIND OF A YOUNG GIRLNAME RILEY. HER JOB IS TO MAKE RILEY HAPPY.HER CHARACTER IS FULL OF BRIGHT AND SHINY COLORS.
I CHOSE TO DO MY DPJ IN WATERCOLOR BECAUSE THE EFFECT OF THE MEDIUM RELATES TO JOY.

THEN WE EXPERIMENT WITH KEY WORDS ANDTRANSLATE IT FROM DESIGN ELEMENTS ANDPRINCIPLES.
ONE OF MY WORD FOR JOY WAS "PLAYING.PLAYING HAS THE ELEMENTS OF CURVE LINES. ANDPRINCIPLES OF RHYTM, HARMONY AND MOVEMENT.
AFTER UNDERSTANDING THAT, I CREATED AN ARTWORKSHOWING "PLAYFUL".

BEFORE STARTING THE FINAL PROJECT, WE HAD TOUNDERSTAND THE ASPECT OF A TOY DISPLAY SETAND OUR IDEAS FOR THE SET.
MY IDEA WAS JOY'S EFFERVESCENCE. EFFERVESCENCEMEANING SOMEONE WHO IS ENTHUSIASTIC ANDBUBBLY.
MY INSPIRATION FOR THIS IDEA WAS BUBBLE ANDFIZZY DRINKS. FIZZY DIRNKS CREATE A GAS WHERE ITBUBBLES UP TO THE TOP, RESEMBLING JOY'SPERSONALITY.

SUBTRACTION METHOD
ADDITION METHOD
THE FIRST METHOD TO MANIPULATING A CUBE IS THROUGH SUBTRACTION.SUBTRACTION CAN OCCUR WHEN WE REMOVE THE EDGES OR SURFACES OF THECUBE. BUT WE HAVE TO MAKE SURE THAT WE DON'T LOSE THE ESSENCE OF ACUBE.
THE MODEL ON THE LEFT SHOWS A CUBE THAT HAD BEEN MANIPULATED BYSLICING AND REMOVING THE SURFACES.
THE SECOND METHOD TO MANIPULATING A CUBE IS THE ADDITION METHOD. ADDITION METHOD CAN OCCUR IN MANY WAYS SUCH AS :FACE TO FACE, EDGE TO EDGE, INTERLOCKING, AND INTERSECTING.
THE MODEL ON THE LEFT REPRESENT FACE TO FACE AND EDGE TO EDGECONTACT. THE SMALL CUBES ARE ADDED ON EACH OTHER TO CREATE A BIGGERLOOKING CUBE.

MULTIPLY IS THE INCREASE IN AMOUNT OR SIZE. IT IS ACCUMULATION OF SOMETHING. IT IS REPETITION.
MULTIPLY 1 : WE MULTIPLY SMALL CUBES AND INCREASE IT IN A MOUNTAIN SHAPE, AS IF ITS ALL TRYING TO GOUP TO THE TOP. WE APPLIED THE ADDITION METHODS OF FACE TO FACE, EDGE TO EDGE AND INTERLOCKING.
MULTIPLY 2 : WE WORKED WITH FRAMES INSTEAD OF CUBE FOR THIS ONE AND MULTIPLIED IT THROUGHREPEATING THAT FRAME CONCEPT BY DECREASING THE FRAME SIZE. WE APPLIED ADDITION METHODS OF EDGETO EDGE CONTACT.

ALL THE RESEARCH WAS DONE DURING THE DESIGN PROCESS JOURNAL AND NOW THIS PART IS ABOUT THE FINALPRODUCT : JOY'S DISPLAY SET.
JOY'S EFFEREVESCENCE IS THE IDEA OF HER BUBBLY AND ENTHUSIASTIC PERSONALITY. THE IDEA IS TO SHOW HERBRIGHT AND FUN PERSONALITY. WHEN SOMEONE SEE THIS TOY DISPLAY SET, THEY HAVE TO FEEL THE FUN OUTOF IT ALSO.

THE PROCESS OF MAKING THE DISPLAY SET
THE MATERIAL THAT I USED TO MAKE THE MODEL IS TRANSLUCENT PLASTIC SHEET(ORANGE AND YELLOW). I CHOSE TO USE THIS MATERIAL BECAUSE IT IS TRANSPARENTAND SHINY LIKE A BUBBLE.
FIRST, I DRAW OUT THE MODEL TO SCALE AND THEN USE THAT AS A REFERENCE. THEN I START CUTTINGUP THE VOID CYLINDERS AND ATTACHING THEM. IN THE PICTURE ABOVE, YOU CAN SEE HOW THE RADIALGRIDDED IS FORMED. IT STARTS OF FROM THE CORNER RATHER THAN THE MIDDLE, AND SPREADS OUTTO THE EDGE.

JOY'S EFFERVESCENCE MODEL
VARIETY OF CYLINDER SIZES ARE PRESENTED, WHILE JOY ISLOCATED IN THE BIGGEST CYLINDER. THIS IS WHERE JOY IS ATHER ULTIMATE ENTHUSIASTIC FEELING. SHE IS USUALLY ATTHIS LEVEL OF HAPPINESS WHEN RILEY IS HAPPY.
THE INTERLOCKS OF THE CYLINDER REPRESENT HOW JOYSHARES HER HAPPINESS WITH HER OTHER FRIENDS.
THE BOTTOM PART OF THE MODEL, WHICH IS THE SEMICYLINDER IS FOR SUPPORT. THIS SUPPORT REPRESENTS JOY'SOPTIMISM. HER OPTIMISTIC MIND HELPS BALANCE HER WAYTHROUGH LIFE AND NOT TOPPLE OVER.
THE FINAL MODEL GIVES OFF THE EFFERVESCENCEFEELING. ITS BRIGHT, FUN AND BUBBLY. ITS JOY!
