Virtual Book Fair Happening till the 8th!!
Dear Battle Creek Families, November 2020
Well Fall is in full spring now and it feels like it transitioned quickly from those warm, beautiful Fall days to the recent frosty mornings and chilly afternoons. Conferences these last two Mondays seemed to have gone well, despite being virtual. However, I would also love to hear feedback from our BC families. It seems pretty evident that education will forever be changed so I’d like to know what we’re doing now that can enhance our systems in the future, post CoVid.
Even with so many things uncertain these days, we are attempting to do as much as we can to connect with our kids and families. Please watch my Morning Announcements each Tuesday morning on our YouTube channel and look for opportunities for your students to connect with friends and school staff; for example, lunch with me and other BC staff, our Virtual Bear Assemblies the first Friday of every month, or our virtual recesses coming up. And did you know I do a read aloud Live on Facebook every weeknight at 8 pm? I’m currently reading “The Chronicles of Narnia” series.
Speaking of reading, our PTC is currently hosting an online Book Fair through November 8th. This is a great opportunity to order some new books for your students while also helping our PTC to raise funds to support the many initiatives they are still assisting students and teachers with. For more information about this, and other events, please look for it in this newsletter, on our website or on our social media. Did you know our PTC also has a Facebook and Instagram page? Please follow them to keep up with all they’re doing and join us each month on Zoom for our PTC meetings. This month’s PTC meeting will be on the 18th at 6:30.
With Thanksgiving right around the corner, our Thanksgiving Food Drive has begun. We have a lot of families in need this year and love being able to help out our own BC neighbors. If you are interested in donating items or receiving a food basket, please look for more information in this newsletter, as well as on our website. Similarly, if you need assistance with providing clothes and shoes for your students, please contact our Counselor, Ms. Benson.
Lastly, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to talk to your child’s teacher or myself. Even though many of the wrinkles of CDL seemed to have been ironed out, we still realize how hard this is and want to support you anyway we can. For this reason, we also have HomeCoaches available every weekday until 6 pm to support you with any Distance Learning Challenges you may be experiencing.
Stay Well,
Beth Freeborn, Principal

Synergy Parent VUE Synergy ParentVUE is a tool to help families stay informed about their stu-dent’s progress. This tool can be used to access your student’s grades, attendance information, and also to communicate with teachers. Students will have access to the same information using Synergy StudentVUE.
How do I get my Parent VUE login information? Please contact your child's school.
Can I use the same login for all my kids at Salem-Keizer? Yes. Your ParentVUE login gives you access to information on all your kids enrolled at Salem-Keizer Public Schools. If you are not seeing one or more kid with your login, it can be an indication of a duplicate record for you in the system. Please contact your student's school (the student you are una-ble to see in ParentVUE) to fix this issue.
How do I login to the Parent VUE/Student VUE mobile app? To login to the free ParentVUE/StudentVUE mobile app, download the ParentVUE application if you a parent or the StudentVUE application if you are a student. When prompted to enter the district URL, enter https://sis-
Window for requesting to transition from EDGE to CDL or
CDL to EDGE is open from Nov. 9th till Dec. 4th.
Stay tuned for more information from the district
on how to submit your request.
4th through 12th grades will continue to meet online through
February 1, 2021. If the county metrics are good, then we will go to our
hybrid model on February 2nd. Follow our District and school website for
more details as we approve those dates.
