Value should never be confused with price and this is something Edmiston has

continuously highlighted within clients’ sales strategies.

We all acknowledge that the difference between sales and purchase price

aspirations can be considerable and it is our task to narrow these fluctuations to

within negotiating distance.

Better value creates increased appreciation for the yacht (and indeed for yachting)

and this instils confidence. Demonstrating value is the task of the broker and it is here

where Edmiston has a proven track record.

If selling is about more than just price (to create value), skill, contacts and sheer hard

work must be the determining factors. Edmiston, the most recognised brand in

yacht marketing, gives clients an edge that makes a deal a possibility.

Put simply – you have to be in, to win.

Is this all mere rhetoric? The results of the last six months prove otherwise. In the

last year Edmiston has brokered the two largest sales (Lauren L and Alysia), the two

largest Feadships (Utopia and Trident) and over €130 million worth of yachts in the

last six months alone.

Edmiston also has a strong purchase client base with deals this year that include

yachts from Benetti, Heesen and Lürssen.

Clients placing a yacht for sale through Edmiston are in the strongest possible

position to achieve their objective. Not just to list the yacht for sale, but to actually sell it.

For a valuation and strategic marketing discussion, with a broker who fully

understands today’s market, telephone or email an Edmiston office.

In issue 49 of Antennae, Edmiston highlighted the Company’s sale and purchase resultsfor 2010. It is noticeable how yachts priced with realism sold, whereas yachts priced onthe values and aspirations of peak market conditions, struggled.

Quick, curvaceous, contemporary, distinctive, daring, dramatic. Big Mak is a 1998,

aluminium 47 metre Heesen with everything anyone could want in a mid-size yacht.

The sun deck is simple: a sunbathing haven with a full-beam semicircular sunbed

and oversize wicker armchairs. Swim? Dive in the sea from the large, square platform

that unfolds from the spa, complete with sauna and steam bath.

Dine on the main deck in the circular saloon connected to an enormous aft terrace

sofa by retracting glass doors. Or on the upper deck – similar idea, different mood.

Everywhere is connected via an atrium-lit, leather lined, central spiral staircase.

Everywhere is bathed in light through full-height windows. Inspiring.

The forward main deck master has full-width oval windows, minimalist style and

maximum effect. Four lower deck cabins – two double and two twins – have large,

ultra-modern bathrooms.

Big Mak’s friend is Baby Mak, a 15 metre Maori also available for sale as a chase

boat or standalone speedster.

Exceptional Dutch build quality combined with imagination means that Big Mak

is a deceptively sophisticated yacht with one overriding advantage: she is different.

that lowers to fit flush against the deck and a large storage locker in the hull.

A canoe stern mini ship, built in Japan to very high quality standards. Sistership of the renowned Paloma,

she has only had one owner and been upgraded and superbly maintained as a very private yacht. Fully class

certified, her Bannenberg interior sleeps ten guests in a full-beam main deck master, full-beam lower deck VIP,

two double and one twin cabin. A yacht full of character and potential.

NECKLACE II

APACHE I I

APACHE II IS AT THE VERY TOP END of the power sports league. Not just because

of her performance but also her quality.

Her sleek, stabilized, aluminium hull and superstructure is honed to harness twin

MTU engines to 29 knots. 44 metres, 29 knots, 8.3 metre beam, 18 metre sun deck

– a superbly strong set of statistics.

The extended sun deck creates a huge swathe of teak deck that can be shaded

by a transparent automatic awning. Apart from a helm station, there is a quadruple

sunbed, sofas and dining table for 12 guests. Shaded by the sun deck roof is another

large outdoor lounging area on the main deck. A straight staircase leads directly to

the full-width swimming platform.

Apache’s minimalist style interior is impressive and innovative. With oak floorboards

throughout, the main saloon and dining area has two large balconies that unfold over

the sea. Sideboard cabinets conceal a 42 inch Bose home cinema system.

12 guests sleep in a full-beam main deck master and two VIP doubles and two

twin cabins with Pullmans on the lower deck. The king-size master suite has double

bathrooms, a surround sound entertainment system and photosensitive skylights.

The high specification guest suites include mirror television screens.

Apache II is counter to the theory that less is more. On this yacht, more is more fun.

Baglietto, 2009, 44m / 144ft, 12 guests, €17m, James Auld, +377 93 30 54 44, [email protected]

Apache II has some of the mostinteresting space under 50 metres.

NEWCONSTRUCTION BROKERAGE

In any market, at any time, some opportunities are all about timing. Edmiston has themost exciting 50metre Perini Navi ketch for sale at arguably the perfect time in herbuild schedule. A new owner can influence the outcome but fast action is required.

PERINI 50 MEYOU WILL NEV

9

With a delivery date of Spring 2012, this is the only new 50 metre Perini available forpurchase. She is nowat theViareggio shipyardwith thealuminiumhull andsuperstructurecomplete and work starting to take place on themechanical and interior fit-out.

ETRE. A NAMEVER FORGET.

10

NEWCONSTRUCTION BROKERAGE

ith design and performance-tuning by Ron Holland, the new

Perinis have much enhanced sailing characteristics. Over

1,400 sq metres of carbon spectra North Sails are controlled

by both helm station and hand held consoles. Perini’s brilliance

in reducing the complexity and increasing the pleasure of sailing

continues to develop – the performance/comfort balance is at an all time high.

An extended waterline maximises the potential hull speed and a swinging keel,

semi compensated rudder and genoa jib noticeably enhance sailing performance.

The keel also rises from 9.7 to just 4 metres allowing shallow cruising and anchoring

for a sailing yacht of this size.

The interior provides spectacular amounts of space – over 22 metres from main

saloon through the inspiring cockpit and out onto the aft deck. The cockpit is both a

dining area and outdoor cinema with custom chairs that retract under the dining

table. All very ingenious.

Chic minimalist design uses a colour scheme of greys, silver and black or bronze,

brown, and stone on panels of wood, leather and onyx. The finest fabrics have been

selected, including Loro Piana cashmere for panels and even the master suite carpet.

Up to 10 guests sleep in five lower deck staterooms. The full-beam master has a

full-beam ensuite that includes a double bath and walk-in shower. In a first for Perini,

the cabin configurations are totally flexible. The four guest staterooms have removable

panels that allow the creation of a second full-beam VIP and two other double (or

even twin) cabins, or four equal cabins, or a lower deck saloon with three cabins, or

an additional study plus cabins or any other idea that suits the owner’s plans.

On the practical side, the yacht carries two tenders – one in a teak topped foredeck

locker and the other in the large garage. The transom opens onto the sea and descends

20 centimetres allowing guests to swim up and walk onto the yacht.

More details are available through James Wallace in our New York office. The

prestige and pleasure of owning a Perini Navi ketch is immense but here is the

chance to purchase at a point where some personalisation is possible and the new

owner has less than a year to wait for delivery. The last word is, perhaps, the most

satisfying. The name of your choice goes on that huge, sensationally beautiful transom.

ATLANTIC was built for speed - specifically, to beat Charlie Barr’s 1905 transatlantic record. With 50 metre schooner masts and an imposing sail pattern, owning a yacht of

this capability and status is as much a privilege as a right. Built in Holland and launched in 2010, Atlantic’s 64 metre raven black hull has a near 9 metre beam, creating very

considerable deck space for sail handling or relaxing and socialising. 12 guests sleep in beautifully crafted, panelled staterooms: a full-beam master, one double and four twin

cabins with ensuite bathrooms. Atlantic is a superbly crafted combination of perfect period style with every modern comfort, with the latest entertainment systems concealed

in beautifully re-created furniture pieces. Sail with her on charter and then own this fast, handsome, race-winning, immaculate schooner.

SHAMROCK V Built in 1930, Shamrock V was the first J-Class and the only one of Sir Thomas Lipton’s challengers to actually compete for the America's Cup. Unique with

a wooden hull and 47 metre mast, she still races at classic regattas and with a full rig of sails, including 3DL, heels within an arm’s length of the sea. Interiors are elegantly

traditional in bird’s eye maple with two double and two twin cabins sleeping eight guests. Arguably the most original J-Class, she also has a comfortable saloon and cockpit for

dining and entertaining. A fully documented maritime heritage makes Shamrock closest to the J-Class legend.

Here is a yacht that epitomises New England style – Cape Cod, the Hamptons and

Nantucket. The ‘Cappuccino’ coloured hull, generous proportions and teak decks

set the scene: sand dunes, a sparkling sea, good food, warm sun and fresh air.

Retro Blue has a large flybridge with dining and lounging areas as well as a helm

station. The main deck has a second outdoor dining area off the salon.

The inside is chic and bright with the atmosphere of a casual, New England yacht

club. Huge windows, tinted for privacy, provide panoramic views. Naturally the entire

yacht is air-conditioned and has every contemporary comfort factor from flat screen

televisions and LED lighting, to large fridges and a superbly equipped galley.

Interior design salutes European heritage, Italian craftsmanship and American

style. White linen sofas, Berber carpets, Hermès chairs, bleached wood cabinets, navy

and phthalo blue detailing. The large, open saloon with a dining area leads through

full-height glazed doors to the aft deck – a superb space big enough to entertain

20 guests. A full-beam master suite is on the main deck with a full-beam VIP and two

twin cabins on the lower deck.

YOU CAN’T BEAT THE EXPERIENCE

Sanlorenzo and Edmiston recognise that being on Retro Blue is by far the best

way to appreciate the yacht’s exceptional appeal.

During May, she will be in Manhattan before cruising to East Hampton where

she will be based for the early summer. By prior appointment, Edmiston can offer

interested clients an exclusive inspection tour. It is a rare opportunity to see a yacht

in this ‘city’ location.

Retro Blue is for sale through Edmiston at US$11.5m. For further information about

her guest appearance in New York, contact Robert Shepherd.

THIS SUMMER Edmiston has an incredible fleet of yachts ready for the Mediterranean

season. Sun on the Côte d’Azur is already warming up the summer scene. Soon, being

afloat will be the only place to be seen.

What is new, cool and fun for 2011? Look through our Directory for details, call

your Edmiston broker to book and here are a few headlines.

She was only launched a month ago but the new 63 metre Feadship Lady Britt

will undoubtedly be one of the top yachts of this (and any other) summer. The yacht

has any number of new themes: a Finnish sauna opposite a balcony over the sea, a

wellness spa, glass enclosed gym, outdoor cinema, convertible cabins, highly-rated

chef and a captain and crew determined to create the best service of any yacht for

charter. Lady Britt is reckoned to be not only the newest but also the finest yacht to

come out of the De Vries shipyard and she is available during May in the Baltic and

then in the Mediterranean.

Reborn is a giant of a yacht – so much space (76 metres), so many ideas and this

year’s unusual space of the year award – an upper deck complete with tropical garden.

A full review of Reborn will appear in the next Antennae.

Talitha is the world’s finest classic – a romantic vision of the golden age of yachting

but with the advantage of contemporary systems, enormous comfort factor and a

sensationally helpful, amicable and accomplished crew.

Refitted in an eclectic contemporary style Idol has some of the most spectacular

deck space of any yacht of anything like her length. Seeing is not believing – seeing

is almost unbelievable. See it anyway!

There are a number of classic sailing yacht regattas

where guests can either take the helm during the race,

his summer, apart from our dazzling Mediterranean

fleet, Edmiston has yachts for charter in all four corners

of the globe including the Americas and Polynesia.

The 35 metre Highlander is fresh from a complete refit that

has updated, upgraded and totally transformed this elegant

canoe stern Feadship. Built in 1967, she was owed and used by

Malcolm Forbes to entertain the British Royal Family, film stars

and tycoons. Now owned by Victor Muller (of Spyker Cars), her

refit has combined modern systems with a period, colonial interior. The yacht will be

available for charter at the New York Auto Show in Manhattan from April 22 – May 1.

After that, she cruises to New England including Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard,

Block Island, Sag Harbour and Newport for the summer regatta season.

In a location where a large private yacht, let alone a Feadship, is a rare sight,

chartering The Highlander is a wonderful opportunity to live life to a quality and style

that is unique to yachting.

For a completely different scene, think Brasil. Aria is a new 45 metre yacht, custom

built to cruise the mighty Amazon. From the serene comfort of air-conditioned lounges

and large staterooms, guests can gaze out over the tropical rainforest. Expert guides

will point out the fascinating, rare and formidable.

International cuisine, private yacht standards of service and contemporary interiors

make this one of the world’s great discovery cruises.

From hot to Chile. Patagonia is a always described as a winter-wonderland and

St Tropez or Nantucket? Costa Smeralda or Patagonia?

Monte Carlo or Tahiti? The beautifully familiar, or the thrillingly unknown?

CHARTER AROUND THEWORLD

46 metre Atmosphere is the best way to combine superb comfort and great food

aboard one of the world’s most resourceful yachts. For the best weather, plan ahead

with availability from September 2011 through until May 2012.

Heli-skiing, wild river fishing, dinner in the mountains, gazing at fjords (from the

warmth of the Jacuzzi) – Atmosphere is in equal parts a holiday and an experience.

Next alternative? Maybe somewhere French, 15,000 miles away from France.

The Society islands of Polynesia include Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora. Soaring

mountains, turquoise lagoons, upside down clouds and beautiful people – physically

and spiritually – the South Pacific is an eye-opening itinerary.

Tu Moana is a large yacht that brings the advantage of 16 staterooms including

an almost unprecedented 100 square metre master suite as well as six other suites

over 35 square metres, with Tahitian artwork and sculpture throughout.

Service is equally splendid and this is unquestionably the way to lounge around

in sublime comfort, whilst spectacular scenery passes by.

If you want to sail in Polynesia, 54 metre Tiara is about as good as it gets. Look

at her deck cinema and Art Deco interiors. In addition Tiara is the world’s only PADI

certified scuba sailing yacht. Dive with experts in this stunning location and see subsea

beauty usually reserved for the pages of National Geographic.

For these and other worldwide destinations telephone your Edmiston charter

advisor. They have a mind full of ideas, itineraries and inspirations.
