they join two smaller sentences together. They can be used to
make your sentences more interesting.
Can you spot the conjunctions in these sentences? Use a
colouring pencil or highlighter to show the joining word.

Super sentences contain nouns. Nouns are general names for people, places, objects or animals.
Steven was getting ready to go to school. He brushed his teeth and ate his breakfast. He got his bag ready, put his jacket on and shouted ‘see you later!’ to his mum as he headed out the door and walked to the bus stop.
Steven met his friends, Kevin and Jim, at the bus stop and they waited for the bus together. Kevin and Jim lived quite close to Steven. Jim stayed in a house in Green Street and Kevin lived in a flat on Sandy Road. They didn’t wait too long for the bus to come. When the bus came, they gave the bus driver their money and went to find a seat. There were lots of people on the bus—it was very busy.
Is it a person?
Is it a place?
Is it a thing?
3. Highlight the different type of nouns you find in the passage below

One day a small brown bear was walking slowly through the
woods. He was sad because he had lost his soft teddy.
He lost it yesterday when he was running quickly through the
dark wood. He had been jumping over small stones, big logs
and wet puddles.
He was now looking for his teddy. He looked under big
bushes, tiny twigs and behind tall trees. He lifted up heavy
stones and moved tiny pebbles, but still no teddy.
After lots of looking he saw a very wet and dirty teddy sat in a
big puddle. The small bear was very happy and skipped home
with a huge smile on his face.
Can you find all of the verbs, nouns
and adjectives in this story?
Underline the NOUNS in BLUE,
Underline the VERBS in RED.
Underline the ADJECTIVES in GREEN.
Be a super word finder and find
all the nouns, verbs and
