A short-term extracurricular activity that you can participate in during the summer/winter breaks. There are many programs with various contents and destinations

・You only need to pay tuition fees to UTokyo, not to the partner university(Payment of service fees, insurance fees, etc. to the host university may be required)

・The credits obtained at the partner university may be approved as credits of UTokyo under some conditions(Some Faculty/Graduate School require students to transfer credits.)

・For USTEP, calls for application are approximately one year before the

start of the study abroad period.

・Begin collecting information and taking language proficiency tests by

the time you want to apply.

・Set a target and prepare yourself according to your schedule to studying

The University-wide Short- term Study

Abroad Programs

・Summer/Winter programs 2021 were held online (UTokyo

covered the program fees).

・For 2022, participating students will need to pay program

fees by themselves (both for in-person and online

programs).

・However, students who meet certain requirements and

eligibilities will be able to apply for scholarships.

・Students can apply for non-repayment type scholarships from UTokyo.

・Before the COVID-19 pandemic, approximately 75％of USTEP students

received scholarships from UTokyo. Most of the remaining 25%

received other scholarships with better conditions.

→ Finding scholarship asap by yourself is very important!

Are there any financial support from UTokyo to join a program?

※ Regarding scholarships, UTokyo can not guarantee the same situation every year because scholarships vary depending on the annual budget situation.
