Merger of the Electric Supply Districts of the WanganuiRangitikei Electric Power Board and the Taihape Borough Council

PURSUANT to the Electricity Distribution Commission Act 1 %7, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

ORDER MERGER OF DISTRICT

1. The licensed area of supply of the Taihape Borough Council, as defined in the Taihape Borough Council Electric Lines Licence dated 3 Auguslt 1953 and published in the Gazette on 13 August 1953, at p. 1309, is hereby included and merged in the Wanganui-Rangitikei Electric Power Board's Electric Power District. For the purposes of the Electric Power Boards Act 1925, this merger shall be deemed also to have been effected under that Act.

RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS OF SUPPLY AurnoRITY 2. Pursuant to section 34 of the Electricity Distribution

Commission Act 1%7, the Wanganui-Rangitikei Electric Power Board shall exercise all rights and undertake all obligations previously exercised by ,the Taihape Borough Council in carrying on its electricity undertaking.

REPRESENTATION

3. The Borough of Taihape shall remain a constiltuent district of the Wanganui-Rangitikei Electric Power Board with a representatiton of one member as defined in the WanganuiRangitikei Electric Power District Representation Order 1%5, da'ted 1 September 1%5 and published in the Gazette on 9 September 1%5 at p. 1499.

The present representative of the Borough of Taihape on the Board shall hold office until the next triennial local body electron. All subsequent representatives of the Borough shall be elected by the electors of the Borough of Taihape.

PuROIASE PRICE

4. The Wanganui-Rangitikei Electric Power Board shall pay to the Taihape Borough Council the sum of $200,000 for the fixed assets of the Council's electricity undertaking, plus additional sums to be agreed upon for stocks and materials, the completion of certain underground reticulation, and for consultant's fees incurred by the Borough as specified in the agreement made between the Board and the Council.

DISPOSITION OF ASSETS

5. As from the date of completion of this sale and purchase the Wanganui-Rangitikei Electric Power Board shall take over from the Taihape Borough Council the electricity undertaking, property, and assets described in the Agreement.

TARIFFS

6. As from 1 October 1970, the charges payable by consumers of electric power in the Borough of Taihape shall be the same as those paid by consumers in the Wanganui-Rangitikei Electric Power Board's district.

STAFF

7. The Wanganui-Rangitikei Etectric Power Board shall continue to employ, as required by the Local Authorities (Employment Protection) Act 1%3, the four members of the staff previously employed in the Taihape Borough Oouncil's electricity undertaking.

DATE OF CoMPLETION

8. The date of completion of the above sale and purchase shall be 30 September 1970, and possession of all property included in the sale shall be taken on that dalte.
