B.com I Professionals

We the students of B.com I P would like to thank Rev. Fr.Dr.VincentArokiadas for giving us this opportunity to go out on a social deed representing our college. As soon as we were informed about the JSR activity, as it was a first time experience for us everyone was excited. We decided to visit a girl’s orphanage named “NavjeevanBalikaVikas Kendra” located in Badichowdi, Hyderabad. This orphanage had girls of age 5 to 14 yrs and being known to a very less number of people they do not have sufficient funds to run their organization. We then contacted Mrs. GeetaMishra who is the founder of this organization and found out their necessities and gathered funds from each student of the class and bought them gifts, groceries, etc.

To make the day more interesting we had also planned many activities which children could participate in and interact with us. We started off by taking introduction and their ambitions from each and every child and then let them showcase their talents. Then we had organized some fun activities for them and then provided them breakfast. As per their requirements we had bought

them two iron racks, a computer table and groceries. We also contributed clothes and blankets to them and as this was a girls orphanage we managed to give each one of them scarf’s as well. A few of us also talked to them about importance of education in shaping our lives and also our Class In charge did her part as a mentor in guiding these young minds in a better way. At the end, we gave them gifts and snacks and left with mixed emotions. As this was our first experience it made us all a better human and at last but not the least we would like to thank our Class In charge Mrs. RadhaKesanifor being a pillar of support in making this day happen.

As seen below the computer table and racks which have been provided,

A visit to - Sadhana Institute for the Mentally Challenged No. of Students visited:40

Together, for a cause!

As a part of Joseph Social Responsibility (JSR) we the students of B. Com Professionals (2P) visited the Sadhana Institute for the Mentally Challenged located at Nacharam on 17th February 2018. We were given a brief introduction about the working of the Institution by Mr. Madhusudan Reddy, the director and secretary of the institution, the Institution was established in the year 2009 and has been providing its services since then. Just as the saying goes 'if you are more fortunate than others, build a longer table, not a taller fence' Sadhana institution totally stands on this notion as it provides home to so many who apparently belong nowhere, they're a home to the homeless. The institution provides training and education to these children, trying to make them productive in every way they can. They're children, adults, old aged, and the mentally challenged, all under the same roof. Students are not only educated here but are also encouraged to grow in their specific areas of interest like dance, singing, drawing and painting. They learn different languages and rehearse their lessons on a regular basis. They're separate floors and sufficient rooms for each category of people and they're well maintained and taken care of. They're many children who also go there for counselling regarding their disability, the families of these children rely on the services provided by this institution and fortunately enough, those who could hardly even talk or recognize the difference between two things are now able to read and write, there have been great transformations in some of their lives while the others are still learning and growing. ' Every once in a while, a visit to such places makes us realize how important it is to spend some time with these people, for they have so much to give, the kind of love and joy that they spread, we wouldn't find elsewhere '. Its justifiable to say that a place like this fills us with a rush of emotions but teaches us great things, it's how to give endlessly, a selfless gesture, a cause for the better. If we were to thank them for one thing, it is for teaching us the way life is to be lived, or rather celebrated.

Every year our college (ST.JOSEPHS DEGREE AND PG COLLEGE) performs an activity called as JSR (JOSEPHS SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY). The whole college engages themselves in this activity by going to different orphanages or old age homes and spending time with the people there and fulfilling their needs and desires up to an extent.

But this year,We the students of 3H (HONORS) along with our class in charge Mrs.AARTHI SAMALA and our Principal(Rev. Father Vincent) planned to conduct the activity at college by inviting Orphanage children of age group 3 to 12 on 17 February 2018.

The activity was comprised of nearly 30 members and accompanied by our class incharge i.e, Mrs.AarthiSamala.

On their arrival, we saw that orphanage children and as well as the students were overwhelmed when we saw each other. The smile on the face of the children set an example that love, care and affection is enough for people to be happy in life.

The camp was started by few of the orphanage children singing songs and then followed by giving Snacks by some other class students. There were about 60 children that have come to college.

Our class was given 15 girls of age group between 10-12 years. The activity began with a little interaction with the children by our class students. It seemed liked they really enjoyed talking with us and wanted to spend a little more time than they had.

We organized few games for them such as Lemon and Spoon, Balloon Bursting and frog jump. The children enjoyed playing Lemon and Spoon when compared to any other games organized and then followed by Balloon Bursting.

Then, later, there was small music and dancing which wasn’t planned, but the orphanage children enjoyed it a lot and we were surprised to see so much talent in them. They looked ecstatic and were in a high glee.

Then, we gave them all the gifts and items of which are needed for that age group of children. Later we spoke to them and clicked few pictures. There happy and beautiful faces assures us that they enjoyed being in our company. Though, not only the orphanage children even we were very happy by being with them and being a reason for their smile. The day went on and soon the time has arrived for them to leave.

Everyone had great time and this activity was a success.

On 17th of February as a part of Joseph’s Social Responsibility, we the students of BBA (BA), under the guidance of Dr.Nagunuri Srinivas, visited the orphanage Smile Foundation at Kothapet.

The students arranged for food, gifts and confectionary. We reached the place at 1:00 pm given the distance from the college. After we reached, we engaged the children in activities like dancing, singing and other games as well.

We have interacted with the children and they told us that they were happy to have us there.

The children had their lunch while we sang for them. Few of them sang with us too. After lunch we provided them with gifts for which the kids were very excited to receive.

After the distribution, we clicked few photos along with the children.

The day was well spent and we were very happy to have brought smiles on those children. We heartily thank Dr. Fr. Vincent Arokiadas, Dr. Nagunuri Srinivas and the entire college faculty to have encouraged us to participate in this activity. We also expect to serve the needy not only through college programs but also in our individual lives.

“One child, one teacher, one pen and one book can change the world,”said Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai. With the same motive As a part of JSR the students of BBA II Year IV Semester B section along with the faculty in charge visited Government Boys High School, Kachiguda, Hyderabad on 16th February ,2018 at 10 .30 am .All of us were deeply

touched when we received a warm welcome from the teachers of the School. There were 70 innocent children, of age 10 years to 12 years who were jumping with joy as we interacted with them. The time spent with those small children made us feel overwhelmed. The way the children mingled with us, played games and enjoyed music was an enriching experience for life. The day began with a few activities conducted by our student coordinators Manish Jain, Muskan and Hitesh Jain. Kids from 6th standard showcased their dancing skills and brought a smile upon everyone present in the room. It was followed by a Questions and answers session conducted by Akshintha, where the kids were given prizes for every correct answer Student coordinators also spent some quality time with the kids out on the playground. After all activities, weallwent personally to the classroom of 6th standard and distributed books and pouches with pencil, scale, and pen to other students they were very happy after receiving these Note books , Pouch (Pencil Eraser Scale) GovindRathi Student of class deserves a special appreciation for contributing personally for the books and other stationery for the kids. This was amongst one of those moments that we can never describe. It was memorable, meaningful and a redeeming morning for all present. The eyes and the smiles of children will linger in our heart for all times to come.Studentsof 6th class made a wonderful dance performance. Their singing and dancing really made everybody feel very joyful.

Our students learnt a good lesson of friendship, sympathy and love with all these activities. They tried to show that these children are also just like our small brothers and sisters and they can also be an important and helping part of society in future.

Visit to Old Age Home

MA 1st Year

Date: 17ty February 2018

ClassIn-chargecoordinators : Aparna Rastogi Total StrengthofClass : 18 Number ofStudents attended : 12 ProgramDetails : Visit to Old Age Home

PlaceofVisit : "The Nest- Home for old aged" at Miyapur Student’s contribution (In terms ofmoney/material/other): 6400

OBJECTIVE: To teach the students the value of respect to the older generation.

It was on 17-febrauary-2018, we planned to visit the old age home "The Nest- Home for old aged" at Miyapur. Complete MA-1 has contributed for this JSR Activity in which we planned activities to be performed. Activities included singing songs and performing a dance for them. We provided lunch for the old ones, carried used clothes, diaries and pen and a small gift pack of daily needs (brush, paste, Dettol soap, and clothes washing bar). The complete amount contributed from MA-1 was 6400. We reached the location by 10:30 am. It is an open place maintained very well by the management of old age home. It was very clean and tidy; we approximately had 40 people in the old age home for which they had two different rooms. One for men and other for Women. They have a separate room for people who are bed ridden or undergoing medication.

We interacted with all of them and the happiness of meeting us was clearly visible in their eyes. That reminded us that moto of happiness, love and life is the biggest motto. Each one of them had told us about their lives and the reasons why they had to be in old age home. Many other things were discussed and they were happy because they finally had someone younger to hear them out. We got to know their daily routines too.

Then we conducted fun activities and made them to talk about love life. That brought smile on their faces. There were many of them who were so much interested to share things and they also volunteered to sing and dance. We then had a cake cutting and distributed the cake to everyone, played music for some time and finally took a break for lunch.

After good fun time for 3 to 4 hours we had to leave and it was emotional moment. We clicked few pics with them distributed dairy and pens wished them healthy days and left the place by 4pm.

OUTCOME: The students learnt that they need to value and respect the older generation
