With fast performance and features that adapt to each listener’s auditory world, SoundDNA keeps speech clear, noise to a minimum, and sound interactions remarkably natural.


SmartCompressAutomatically detects background noise and distinguishes it from speech signals. With the ultra-fast processing capacity of SoundDNA, SmartCompress evaluates each signal type and instantly adapts proper gain and compression for speech in noise and noise-only environments.

SPiN ManagementThe Speech in Noise (SPiN) Management system includes up to a trio of technologies to respond to environmental noise with an automatic, adaptive and multiband design. Adaptive Feedback Canceller Pro Adaptive Feedback Canceller Pro incorporates two systems to counteract the risk of feedback in both stable and fast-changing situations.

Binaural Noise ManagementUses wireless technology to offset unpredictable noises that affect one side more than another. It automatically applies the optimum noise reduction setting to reduce the loudest source of noise for a more balanced sound.

Extended Dynamic RangeEDR adaptively expands the dynamic range of sound up to 113 dB SPL. EDR helps keep speech and other sounds clear at greater intensity levels.

SmartMusicUses EDR to enhance changing music volumes. Ideal for performers and patients who enjoy live music, this technology extends the dynamic range of sound to 113 dB SPL. Tinnitus SoundSupportTemporarily relieves the perception of tinnitus with various broadband or nature sounds. This feature has several customizable controls to maximize patient benefit.

IP Rating IP68 Custom and behind-the-ear hearing aids on the SoundDNA platform are dust-tight and protected against continuous immersion in three feet of water or more.

Adaptation Manager The Adaptation Manager gradually increases gain settings over time to ease patients into their hearing instruments. Customize adaptation steps and time from one week to four months.

Low Frequency EnhancementBoosts low frequencies for full, rich sound when direct audio streaming from wireless devices. Great to use for patients with open fittings.

Frequency TransferCompresses high-frequency input and “shifts” it to frequencies where listeners have better hearing.

Forget about feedbackHearing aids for demanding losses require more power, which increases the risk of feedback. Trek addresses this concern head-on by offering effective feedback cancellation for high-gain fittings so patients can live with fewer distractions. Adaptive Feedback Canceller Pro (AFC Pro) uses two systems to control feedback more effectively in a variety of situations. Increased power with less audible feedback helps patients hear sounds they were previously unable to hear.

Small step, big rewardVolume Control (VC) Step Size aims to help hearing aid wearers who have a reduced dynamic range. VC Step Size makes finer volume adjustments in 1 dB, instead of 2.5 dB, increments to avoid a quick increase in volume.

Connect, Recharge and Go with Accessories

Optional accessories make hearing devices more practical. More effective. More fun.

The SoundLink 2 app – controls wireless operations like volume, program changes, and more, on an iPhone® or AndroidTM smartphone.1 Other conveniences include “Find my hearing aid,” links to instructions and low battery notification. SoundLink 2 is also used to connect users to their Sonic service on the If This Then That (IFTTT) website www.IFTTT.com/sonic. IFTTT connects all kinds of digital devices to the Internet of Things to make life more convenient.

SoundClip-A – allows patients to stream sound in stereo to their hearing aids from any Bluetooth® 2.1 smartphone and device. It also functions as a remote microphone, remote control, and allows the hearing aids to be used as wireless headphones for hands-free calls. Using the SoundClip-A with the Phone Adapter 2 offers the ability to stream landline phone calls directly to hearing aids.

RC-A Remote Control – is small enough to fit in a pocket or purse and lets a patient adjust volume, switch programs, and control connectivity sources (like TV-A). There’s no need to pair the RC-A during the fitting process; patients can do it at home themselves. TV-A Adapter – plays TV audio directly to hearing aids without an intermediary transmitter. It connects to most TVs, and patients can easily pair TV-A with their hearing aids at home.

The Noahlink wireless programmer uses 2.4 GHz BLE technology to connect your EXPRESSfit® Pro fitting system directly to 2.4 GHz wireless hearing aids - no intermediary device needed. The fitting software automatically recognizes the hearing aid and allows you to fit without the hassles of a neck loop, cables, or connectors.

Rechargeable battery options allow patients to enjoy all-day power without the need for regular battery changes on select styles. Refer to the Model Overview tables for available options. NEW! Remote Fitting – Fine-tune Sonic 2.4 GHz hearing aids remotely using your fitting PC, a wireless connection and the user’s smartphone. EXPRESSfit Pro and the new SoundLink Connect app allow you and your patient to see, hear and text during the session to ensure the best fit. Remote Fitting does not support in-situ audiometry, Real Ear Fit, Tinnitus SoundSupport and feedback measurements.2

The following accessories and apps are available for products on the Extend and the SoundDNA Plotforms.


People have always loved the natural sound of Sonic products. Built on the sophisticated Speech Variable Processing Technology Platform, these products provide the benefitsof wireless connectivity, binaural processing, and of course, great sound quality.

Speech Variable Processing, a fast- acting WDRC system helps keep sounds natural and speech clear. Special attention is given to accurately measuring the incoming signal, applying just the right amount of gain at just the right moment, and preserving the frequency contrast to maintain the clarity of individual sounds.

Where available, select from the fast-acting compression of Phoneme Focus (traditional SVP), or the SVP variant Envelope Focus, which uses slow-acting compression to preserve envelope information - helpful for certain populations, considering age, high frequency hearing thresholds and air-bone gap information.

Frequency Transfer - a feature specifically for listeners with limited high-frequency cochlear function - compresses high-frequency input and “shifts” it to frequencies with better hearing.

Unwanted noise can be distracting, confusing, and simply irritating. Sonic puts multiple Noise Reduction Technologies to work to identify and reduce unwanted sounds. Less noise means greater patient comfort.

Soft Noise Reduction minimizes low-level background distractions like a whirring fan or humming refrigerator without modifying the amplification of important speech-related signals.

When wind is detected, the Wind Noise Reduction feature quickly sets the lowest frequencies to an omni directional response and applies maximum attenuation across all frequencies.

Speech Priority Noise Reduction works to separate speech from surrounding noise. The system constantly monitors the input and determines the modulation “fingerprint” of the signal. Sounds that are highly modulated are most likely speech and should be preserved; sounds that do not show modulation characteristics are most likely noise and should be reduced.

Impulse Noise Reduction suppresses unexpected loud sounds, like the clinking of silverware or slamming of doors. This is done by examining the input and looking for quick, unexpected, loud sounds. Once an impulsive sound is identified, Impulse Noise Reduction suppresses the sound without modifying other parts of the input that may contain important speech cues.

Reverb Reduction controls the lingering “ring” that sounds can take on in large spaces like assembly halls or places of worship by detecting the specific characteristics of reverberation and attenuating just that part of the original signal.

Speech Variable Processing Technology Platform


Sophisticated Directional Systems allow patients to focus on the things they want to hear—the important everyday sounds happening right in front of them.

The Adaptive Feedback Canceller system continually monitors the frequency content of the input signal for oscillation characteristics typical of feedback. Once identified, the inverse phase canceller quickly applies a counter signal to the offending component, which typically eliminates feedback before it is audible.

The Universal Listening Environment constantly monitors for specific characteristics of the incoming signal (sound level, presence of speech, frequency content, and harmonics). By analyzing these different sound traits, the system determines which combination of features and amplification will be beneficial in the environment, and then automatically adjusts accordingly.

Environment Classification provides a hands-free, unified listening experience by automatically identifying various listening environments and adjusting features and amplification levels in the instruments to provide the best configuration for that specific situation.

Pre-configured Listening Environments make device configuration simple. Each Environment combines features and amplification adjustments ideal for that specific listening scenario.

With Binaural Coordination, devices can wirelessly share information between the left and right devices, so the instruments can communicate with each other from side to side.

The Data Logging system records usage information about patients’ listening behaviors. By analyzing this information, you can make quick fine-tuning decisions based on historical performance data.

With Data Learning, devices learn patients’ preferred volume settings over time, and adapt the default amplification settings to match their preferences.

When one ear engages its Auto Telephone listening program, the Non-Telephone Ear Control feature specifies the other device as the non-telephone ear and reduces gain or mutes the input on that side. This reduces the distractions caused by non-telephone sounds and increases the perception of volume from the telephone.

Environment Classification automatically analyzes incoming sounds binaurally and adjusts the features and amplification to address that situation. The Analog Volume Control precisely adjusts volume in 1 or 2 dB increments, providing fine control for patients with a reduced dynamic range. Journey also features an LED Visual Indicator giving parents or caregivers an easy way to confirm battery life, volume or program changes.

SoundGate 3 provides wireless communication between Sonic products* and virtually any external audio source that uses Bluetooth® transmission. Simply pair SoundGate 3 to the hearing instruments and Bluetooth device, and patients can instantly enjoy hands-free mobile phone use, binaural audio streaming, and basic remote control operations.

SoundLink App for iPhone® and Android™ Smartphones

The SoundLink App along with SoundGate 3 lets listeners change volume, programs, listening sources right on their iPhone or Android smartphone.

Phone Adapter 2

Even landline phones get the wireless treatment. The Phone Adapter 2 provides a binaural wireless link between landline phones and SoundGate 3.

Get Connected! A hearing instrument isn’t the only device patients need to rely on. Cell phones, MP3 players, PCs, and television are integral to everyday life. Sonic connectivity solutions give patients wireless access to nearly any external audio device.

SoundLink App for iPhone runs on iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 4s, and iPhone 4, and requires Sonic wireless hearing aids and SoundGate 3 with firmware 3.1 or later. SoundLink App for Android smartphones requires Sonic wireless hearing aids and SoundGate 3 with firmware 3.1 or later.

TV Adapter 2

Connect the TV Adapter 2 to a television, and SoundGate 3 streams the audio directly to the hearing instruments. Thanks to binaural wireless reception, movies and TV shows have never sounded clearer.

SoundGate Mic

With the SoundGate Mic, patients can close the gap listening to a distant speaker. Simply clip the SoundGate Mic to the speaker’s clothing or ask them to keep it nearby. Their voice is transmitted via SoundGate 3 right into the patient’s hearing aids.

RC-N Remote

The RC-N Remote provides basic remote operation of program and volume changes.
