iNDr Filter

KOBELCO has developed the revolu-tionary Integrated Noise and DustReduction Cooling System, with theengine compartment placed inside asingle duct that connects the air intaketo the exhaust outlet.

The intake and exhaust are offset, withthe holes and joints in the sections cor-responding to the duct wall completelycovered to reduce noise at the intakeand exhaust apertures. This design,plus the generous use of insulation-material inside the duct, minimizesengine noise.

Also, iNDr filter in the intake apertureprevents dust from penetrating, whichnot only ensures a quieter, cleanerengine, but also supports the perfor-mance of the cooling unit andenhances ease of maintenance.

The iNDr Revolution

The ACERA GEOSPEC SR series has broken through to a newfrontier in quiet operation, with a noise level a full 5 dB belowthe Japanese government's requirements for ultra-low-noisemachinery. In fact, compared with previous KOBELCO models,we have achieved a 10 dB reduction on the right-side surface ofthe machine, a difference that is clearly audible.

Far Surpassing Legal Requirements

Because the iNDr filter removes dust from the intake air, no dustgets into block the cooling components, so that no regularcleaning is necessary. The filter can be removed easily withouttools and is installed in parallel with the intercooler, radiator, andoil cooler for easy access.

Cooling Unit Requires No Regular Cleaning

The stainless-steel filter is extremelyeffective against dust, with a 60-meshwave-type screen that removes tinydust particles from the intake air. Thisnot only helps to keep the cooling unitand air cleaner running in top form, butalso maintains ideal heat balance.

* "60-mesh" means that there are 60 holesformed by horizontal and vertical wires in everysquare inch of filter.

This function saves fuel and cuts emissions by shutting downthe engine automatically when the machine is on stand by. Italso stops the hourmeter, which helps to retain the machine’sasset value.

Auto Idle Stop Provided as StandardEquipment

Engine speed is automatically reducedwhen the control lever is placed in neu-tral, effectively saving fuel and reducingnoise and exhaust emissions. Theengine quickly returns to full speedwhen the lever is moved out of neutral.

Comfortable “On the Ground” MaintenanceAll of the components that require regular maintenance are laidout for easy access, with the control valves located on a singleright-hand panel that opens and closes at a touch. Behind that,in the pump compartment, there is remote access to such com-ponents as the engine oil filter and fuel filter (with built-in waterseparator). iNDr Filter Blocks Out DustOutside air goes directly from the intakeduct through the iNDr filter for dustremoval. The filter features a 60-meshscreen, which means it has sixty holesper inch both vertically and horizontally,

with a wide front sur-face area and accor-dion structure thatresists clogging.

Visual Checking and Easy CleaningWhen checking and cleaning the cool-ing system, one must deal with severaldifferent components like the radiator,oil cooler and intercooler, which allmust be handled in different ways. Butwith the iNDr filter, there's just one filterin one place. If it looks dirty duringstart-up inspection, it can be cleanedeasily and quickly.

Notes:1. Do not attempt to lift or hold any load that is greater than these lift capacities at their

specified lift point radius and heights. Weight of all accessories must be deducted fromthe above lift capacities.

2. Lift capacities are based on machine standing on level, firm, and uniform ground. Usermust make allowance for job conditions such as soft or uneven ground, out of levelconditions, side loads, sudden stopping of loads, hazardous conditions, experience ofpersonnel, etc.

3. Bucket lift hook defined as lift point.

4. The above lifting capacities are in compliance with SAE J/ISO 10567. They do notexceed 87% of hydraulic lifting capacity or 75% of tipping load. Lifting capacitiesmarked with an asterisk (*) are limited by hydraulic capacity rather than tipping load.
