Situational Report for 2022 National and Local Elections

The synchronized fully automated National and Local Elections (NLE) will be conducted on Monday, 9 May 2022 asmandated in Section 2 of RA 7166. Likewise, the ARMM elections were also synchronized with the 2019 NLE per RA10153.

Further, gun ban is implemented from 9 January to 8 June 2022. Per COMELEC, during the election period, no personshall bear, carry or transport firearms or other deadly weapons in public places, including any building, street, park,private vehicle or public conveyance, even if licensed to possess or carry the same, unless authorized in writing by theCommission.

Special Weather Outlook for 2022 National Election (6 May 2022)- The dominant weather system to affect the country during the conduct of National Election will be the IntertropicalConvergence Zone (ITCZ).- Eastern Visayas and Mindanao will be generally cloudy skies with rainshowers and thunderstorms caused by theoscillation of the ITCZ. The rest of the country will have warm and humid weather conditions apart from isolated afternoonor evening rainshowers and thunderstorms.- Light to moderate winds coming from the east and southeast will prevail over Luzon becoming light easterly to variableover Visayas and Mindanao. The coastal waters will be slight to moderate.

• Directed the Provincial Jail Administrators to identify the possible hot spot areas that may hamper PersonsDeprived of Liberty (PDL) from casting their votes, and raising the alert status to "RED" effective May 8-10,2022.• Instructed the Provincial Jail Administrators to update/prepare their Operational Plan "OPLAN HALALAN" forjails conducting on-site and off-site voting.• Advised jail wardens to strengthen the safety and security of their facilities, personnel and PDL.• All jails joined the Election Education Webinar entitled "Halalan 2022: PDL at ang Karapatang Bumuto saNalalapit na National Election."•Conducted by Humanitarian Legal Assistance Foundation, INC.
