REASON The starter generator and AC generator bolts may have been improperly torqued. In the event of an extreme hard landing the AC Generator and Starter Generator could come loose from the Accessory Gear Box (AGB). DESCRIPTION This service document provides parts and instructions to inspect the heli-coil interface and replace the bolts with longer bolts that attach the starter-generator Quick Attach Detach (QAD) and AC generator. COMPLIANCE MANDATORY. This service document must be accomplished within 60 days from the date of receipt. A service document published by Textron Aviation may be recorded as completed in an aircraft log only when the following requirements are satisfied: 1) The mechanic must complete all of the instructions in the service document, including the intent therein. 2) The mechanic must correctly use and install all applicable parts supplied with the service document kit. Only with written authorization from Textron Aviation can substitute parts or rebuilt parts be used to replace new parts. 3) The mechanic or airplane owner must use the technical data in the service document only as approved and published. 4) The mechanic or airplane owner must apply the information in the service document only to aircraft serial numbers identified in the Effectivity section of the document. 5) The mechanic or airplane owner must use maintenance practices that are identified as acceptable standard practices in the aviation industry and governmental regulations. ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS1. Prepare the airplane for maintenance.

A. Make sure that the airplane is electrically grounded.

B. Make sure that all switches are in the OFF/NORM position.

C. Disconnect electrical power from the airplane.

(1) Disconnect external electrical power.

(2) Disconnect the airplane batteries.

D. Attach maintenance warning tags to the batteries and external power receptacle that have "DO NOTCONNECT ELECTRICAL POWER - MAINTENANCE IN PROGRESS" written on them.

2. Do the Starter-Generator Quick Attach Detach (QAD) and AC Generator mounting plate bolt torquecheck as follows:

A. (Refer to Figure 1, Sheet 1.) Remove the Starter-Generator. (Refer to the Cessna Model 680AMaintenance Manual, Chapter 80, Starter-Generator - Removal/Installation.)

B. (Refer to Figure 1, Sheet 1.) Remove the AC Generator. (Refer to the Cessna Model 680AMaintenance Manual, Chapter 24, AC Generator - Removal/Installation.)

C. Remove the safety wire from the bolts that attach the Starter-Generator Quick Attach Detach (QAD)mount and the AC Generator mounting plate to the Accessory Gear Box (AGB).

D. (Refer to Figure 1, Sheet 2.) Use an indelible marker to mark the bolts that attach theStarter-Generator Quick Attach Detach (QAD) mount to the Accessory Gear Box (AGB) with awitness mark on the bolt head and housing flange.

E. (Refer to Figure 1, Sheet 2.) Use an indelible marker to mark the bolts that attach the AC Generatormounting plate to the Accessory Gear Box (AGB) with a witness mark on the bolt head andmounting plate.

F. Torque each bolt on the QAD and mounting plate to 220 in-lbs (24.85Nm).

(1) If bolt turns when applying torque, measure the approximate degree of the amount of turn untilthe proper torque is applied and record for PWC engineering. Submit findings to:P&WC Engineering at: M. Sealey, Pratt & Whitney Canada, [email protected].

(2) If bolt does not turn when applying torque no action is necessary, proceed to Step 3.

3. Remove the QAD from the AGB. (Refer to the Cessna Model 680A Maintenance Manual, Chapter 80,Starter-Generator Quick Attach Detach (QAD) Mount - Removal/Installation.)

4. Remove the bolts and the AC Generator mounting plate from the (AGB).

5. Do the AGB Heli-Coil inspection as follows:

A. Lubricate 12 NAS566-47 Bolts with engine oil (PWC03-001).

CAUTION: Do not exceed 80 in-lbs (9.04 Nm) as the bolt goes through the lock of theinsert on the step that follows.

B. Install one NAS566-47 Bolt in each of the holes of the AGB QAD mount and AC Generator mountingplate attach point (12 places) and tighten until the lock feature is fully engaged.

C. Measure and record the amount of torque necessary to remove the bolts.

NOTE: Torque measurement should be taken as the bolt head starts to turn. This is called thebreakaway torque.

(1) Make sure the breakaway torque is not less than 9.5 inch lbs (1.07 Nm).

D. If the breakaway force is not less than 9.5 inch lbs (1.07 Nm), go to Step 6.

E. If the breakaway torque is less than 9.5 inch lbs (1.07 Nm), do the steps that follow:

(1) Remove the heli-coil insert from the AGB hole. (Refer to P&WC Engine Maintenance Manual,Chapter 70, Replacement of Heli-Coil inserts.)

(2) Visually Inspect the AGB housing internal threads for damage.

(a) If the internal threads are damaged, Take photographs for submission and analysis toPWC engineering. and Textron Aviation engineering.

(b) If the visual inspection passes, do the steps that follow:

1 Use a standard .375-24 (3A) Go/No-Go gauge to accomplish an internal threadcheck on the accessory gear box housing.

2 If AGB Housing thread check does not pass, submit findings to: P&WC Engineeringat: M. Sealey, Pratt & Whitney Canada, [email protected] contact Textron Aviation at: [email protected] (316)-517-1695.

3 If the thread check on the AGB passes, replace heli-coil inserts. (Refer to P&WCEngine Maintenance Manual, Chapter 70, Replacement of Heli-Coil inserts.)

F. Repeat steps 5.A. thru 5.D. for each bolt hole on the accessory gear box QAD attach point holesand the AC Generator mounting plate holes.

6. Install the Starter Generator QAD on the engine accessory gear box with six NAS566-47 Bolts wetwith engine oil (PWC03-001) and torque to 220.0 inch-lbs (24.85 Nm). (Refer to the Cessna model680A Maintenance Manual, Chapter 80, Starter-Generator Quick Attach Detach (QAD) Mount -Removal/Installation.)

7. Install the Starter-Generator. (Refer to the Cessna Model 680A Maintenance Manual chapter 80,Starter-Generator - Removal/Installation.)

8. Install the AC Generator mounting plate on the engine AGB with six NAS566-47 Bolts wet with engine oil(PWC03-001) and torque to 220.0 inch-lbs (24.85 Nm).

9. Safety the mounting plate bolts with safety wire. (Refer to the Citation Standard Practices Manual,Chapter 20, Safetying - Maintenance Practices.)

10. Install the AC Generator. (Refer to the Cessna Model 680A Maintenance Manual, Chapter 24, ACGenerator - Removal/Installation.)

11. Do Steps 2 thru 10 for the opposite side engine/accessory gear box.

12. Remove the maintenance warning tags and connect the airplane batteries.

13. Make an entry in the airplane logbook that states compliance and method of compliance with this servicedocument.

NOTE: Textron Aviation recommends that compliance with all service documents is reported to amaintenance tracking system provider.• Complete a record of compliance. (Maintenance Transaction Report, Log Book Entry, or

other record of compliance.)• Put a copy of the completed record of compliance in the airplane logbook.• Send a copy of the completed record of compliance to the maintenance tracking system

provider used.
