THANKYOUWe are proud to present the LNP Readers’ Choice Awards for 2018. You have in front of you,

either in print or on LancasterOnline, a publication that is the product of the participation of

many of your Lancaster County neighbors, and perhaps even yourself, who voted for their

favorite local businesses in over 300 categories. In our 18th year of conducting this contest, more

readers than ever participated in the voting, casting almost 100,000 total votes.

The success of LNP’s Readers’ Choice program is a testament to the relationship between

Lancaster County residents and businesses and the newspaper that serves them. While some

other communities’ newspapers have discontinued their versions of Readers’ Choice due to lack

of involvement or lack of interest, our Readers’ Choice is bigger and better than ever, with

ever-increasing engagement from our readers and our local businesses.

This kind of three-way relationship: community + local businesses + local news source, once a

symbiotic and beneficial mainstay in most areas, no longer exists in most places throughout the

country. Many newspapers have cut the size of their newsrooms, thus reducing their ability to

cover the events and issues important to their readers. That creates less interest in the news

products, which results in fewer potential buyers seeing local ads. At LNP, we have not reduced

newsroom size. We employ nearly 200 journalists and correspondents to cover Lancaster

County and bring your community to your kitchen table or computer screen or smartphone. We

have not chosen the path that so many other newspaper companies have followed, but rather

have, as the poem goes, taken the path less traveled. And, that makes all the difference. LNP

is not like other newspapers. It remains an invaluable source for local news and information for

Lancaster County and a powerful marketing partner for local businesses with both print and

digital products and services.

As you flip through the pages of this LNP Readers’ Choice Awards magazine, we hope you will

marvel at all the great local businesses from which you have to choose when making buying

decisions. We also hope you will give some thought to how rare it is to live in a community with

a local newspaper that has maintained the trust and relationships to connect readers and local
