platform for “Transparent Taxation – Honoring

the Honest” through video conferencing that

provides faceless assessment and appeal and

taxpayers’ charter, as a part of direct tax reforms.

The objective of the platform is to ease the tax

compliance and expediting refunds, benefiting

honest taxpayers. While the faceless assessment

and taxpayers’ charter would be implemented

from August 13 itself but the faceless appeal

system would be available from September 25,

2020. Note: With a view to provide for resolution

of pending tax disputes the Direct Tax “Vivad se

Vishwas Act, 2020” was rolled out.

First-of-its-kind Katra-Delhi Express Road Corridor to be completed by 2023 • First-of-its-kind Katra (Union Territory of Jammu

& Kashmir)-Delhi Express Road corridor works

2023. It was announced by Union Minister for

Development of North Eastern Region (M-

DoNER), Dr. Jitendra Singh. The express Corridor

is expected to reduce the travel time between

tallest pier bridge, having height of 141m, across

river Ijai in Manipur with an outlay of Rs 280

crore. After completion, it will surpass the record

of 139m of the Mala– Rijeka Viaduct, Montenegro

in Europe. The project will be completed in March

2022.

It is a perennial plant and can be grown in unutilized sloppy land of cold desert regions.

beverages. CPI-IW index is used to measure

inflation in retail prices, for regulation of Dearness

India’s Highest Meteorological Centre at Leh,

Ladakh

• On December 29, 2020, Union Minister of Earth

Sciences, Dr Harsh Vardhan virtually inaugurated

India’s Highest Meteorological (Met) Centre at

Leh, Ladakh (UT).

• This is India’s Second Met Centre located in the

Himalayas, the first one is located at Itanagar,

Arunachal Pradesh.

India’s 1st Pollinator Park comes up at

Haldwani, Uttarakhand

• On December 29, 2020, India’s 1st Pollinator Park

was inaugurated at Haldwani in Nainital district,

Uttarakhand by Peter Smetacek, a butterfly
