MULTIMEDIA UNIVERSITY

Multimedia University (MMU), a tertiary education institution set up through Universiti Telekom Sdn Bhd (UTSB), a wholly owned subsidiary of TM, fulfils the noblest of corporate social responsibilities – taking up the challenge of educating the next generation the nation’s leaders and knowledge workers. As the first private university in Malaysia, MMU developed the pioneer model for the successful establishment of private universities in the nation, paving the way for the growth of the private tertiary education sector. As the university at the heart of the MSC, MMU also serves as a catalyst for the development of the high tech ICT industry of the nation, parallel to the Silicon Valley-Stanford model in the United States.

Growing to over 18,000 students in 17 years, MMU has achieved much in a relatively short period of time. The university runs in two campuses, its original campus in the historical city of Melaka, and the campus in Cyberjaya that was opened by the former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed. It has produced 34,378 graduates in its time, and a recent survey demonstrates that 90% of these secure employment within 6 months of the completion of studies. It has also grown an outstanding pool of international students numbering at 2,000 from over 80 countries. Establishing itself as a major player in research and development, and maintaining excellent ties with the industry through collaborations and research partnerships, MMU now hosts 13 Research Centres to date, focusing in the niche areas of nanotechnology, microsystems, biometrics, virtual reality, microwave and telecommunications, engineering, photonics, advanced robotics and business.

Through an organisation-wide policy of prudent spending and careful budgeting, the university successfully achieved financial independence within the first 3 years of its founding, and continue to be sustainable and financially healthy to this day. This is in spite of a recent infrastructural expansion in both its campuses during the period of 2006 till present, with the completion of the Phase 3 of development in the Melaka Campus and Phase 2 of development in the Cyberjaya Campus.

Cyberjaya CampusLocated on a 80-hectare piece of land (about the size of 75 soccer / football fields), the Cyberjaya campus is equipped with various intelligent features such as ATMs, multimedia learning facilities, intelligent building systems and an integrated campus management system. Commencing operations in June 1999, the campus is a mere 20 minutes drive from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and houses the Learning Institute for Empowerment, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Computing & Information, Faculty of Management, Faculty of Creative Multimedia, Institute for Postgraduate Studies, GSM (Graduate School of Management), GIE (Graduate Institude of Engineering) and CDP (Centre for Diploma Programmes).

Melaka CampusThe campus stands on a 52-acre piece of land strategically located in the vicinity of serene residential areas, booming industrial areas and scenic Ayer Keroh tourist spots. The Melaka campus comprises of the Learning Institute for Empowerment, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Faculty of Information Science & Technology, Faculty of Business & Faculty of Law, Institute for Postgraduate Studies and CDP (Centre for Diploma Programmes).

Nusajaya CampusThe MMU Nusajaya Campus offers the the Bachelor of Cinematic Arts (Honours) programme as part of MMU’s objective to be a talent feeder into the nation workforce for the film and creative industry. Applicants from overseas should begin the application process well in advance before the closing date of each intake (please refer to MMU’s website for the closing date for each intake). * The term "Certified True Copy" refers to the duplicates of original documents, certified as exact reproductions, usually by the officer responsible for issuing or keeping the original, or by a solicitor, notary public, justice of the peace or any other person authorized to take a statutory declaration. A certified true copy should carry a certificate, stamp or seal and the certifier’s signature.

MAKING YOUR TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS1. An applicant who has been granted letter of student pass approval may make arrangement to travel to Malaysia.

2. Applicant is strongly advised NOT TO ENTER Malaysia before obtaining the approval of student pass.

3. Applicant must notify MMU of their arrival date at least 5 working days before arrival. A notification must be sent to visa@mmu.edu.my

4. Applicant from South America & Africa is required to possess a valid Immunization Certificate for Yellow Fever not less than 10 (ten) days before they enter Malaysia.

5. Applicant must apply for an Entry Visa from nominated Malaysian Embassy / Consulate.

6. Upon arrival in Malaysia, applicant must present the Letter of Approval of Student Pass to the authority at the airport to ensure smooth entry.

7. Applicant must report to MMU within 3 (three days) of arrival to submit passport for the endorsement of the student pass.
