Leaders of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth Photographs and Signatures From their founding in 1812, until 1911, the leaders of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth were known as ‘Mother Superior’. Papal Approbation and subsequent changes in the Constitutions resulted in the title being changed to ‘Mother General’. For a brief time (1972-1988) the title was changed to ‘Superior General’. In 1988 the General Assembly accepted a new Government Plan which altered the title to the current, ‘President’.
