Two scholarship grants for theological students are being offered through the German churches and the German government for an eight-week German language course at one of the Goethe-Institutes in West Germany this summer. The grants cover tuition and living expenses during the course but do not cover travel. Interested

students with a basic knowledge of German and a good reason why they need or want to study German should send a brief written statement to Dr. Froehlich explaining a) denominational affiliation; b) level of proficiency in German; c) reason(s) for wanting to enter| the program this summer. The statement should also include the student's campus address and telephone number. Please make your | application immediately.

"The Graduate Study Fellowship for the Parish Ministry" will be awarded to a graduating Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) senior at Commencement 1985. A description of the Fellowship is on pages 148-149 of the present Seminary catalogue. This Fellowship is to be used for travel and study overseas and does not have to be toward a degree. The Fellowship is intended for one who is dedicated to parish ministry rather than to an academic career. The Fellowship to be awarded at Commencement 1985 will be in the amount of $9,000.00.

Pianist Loren Stuckenbruck, M.Div. senior, will play the "Appassionato in F minor," by Beethoven; two rhapsodies by Liszt; and two polonaises by Chopin among other pieces from the romantic period. A native of Tuebingen, Germany, Stuckenbruck is a frequent recitalist across

the country and has been presented in the Young Artists Series at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

"The Graduate Study Fellowship for the Parish Ministry" will be awarded to a graduating Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) senior at, Commencement 1935.5 =A description of the Fellowship is on pages 148-49 of the present Seminary catalogue. This Fellowship is to be used for travel and study overseas and does not have to be toward a degree. The Fellowship is intended for one who isvcedicated {0 parish ministry rather thang toyan academic career. The Fellowship to be awarded at Commencement 1985 will be in the amount of $9,000.00.

Testament will deliver his inaugural lecture on the subject

"History, Theology, and the Mysterium Christi." Barriers to

Jesus research have crumbled, according to Dr. Charlesworth,

and it is time to assess progress in the search for historical

knowledge of Jesus of Nazareth. This is made possible by the

hundreds of documents now available from pre-seventy A.D.

Judaism. <A scholar in the field of New Testament, Dr. Charlesworth

has published six books, including The Odes of Solomon and is

the editor of John and Qumran.

Monday, February 25, The Cenacle Retreat Center, Highland Park, New Jersey, 9:30 - 4:00 p.m. In conjunction with the New Jersey Council of Churches Faith & Order Commission, the NYC/NJ "Embrace the World" group will sponsor a one- day conference on the "Baptism, Eucharist, and Ministry" document. The presenters, Protestant, Orthodox, and Roman

Catholic respectively, will include brief small group question

and discussion periods. The objective is two-fold: 1) to provide a substantial theological examination of the three categories from differing ecclesiastical traditions, and 2) to see how this informs the life and mission of churches today and supports church efforts toward a visible unity in a broken

world. A third focus is the connection between local and global developments, as related to faith & order issues.

"Embrace the World" is a follow-up program of ecumenical education for action stemming from the 1983 World Council of Churches meeting in Vancouver, and is one of four groups across North America pursuing the issues discussed at Vancouver, specifically as they apply to the American scene. The cost and registration information is posted on the public information bulletin board, 110 Administration. For two persons assisting as stewards, the fee is waived. perceive as the need for a more supportive community environment, and to seek Biblical perspectives on topics of faith and contemporary issues. We feel this can best be accomplished through the format of our weekly meetings where guest speakers will give a presentation (15 minutes) followed by an open discussion (45 tminutes). At

"The Graduate Study Fellowship for the Parish Ministry" will be awarded to a graduating Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) senior at Commencement 1985. A description of the Fellowship is on pages 148-149 of the present Seminary catalogue. This Fellowship is to be used for travel and study overseas and does not have to be toward a degree. It is intended for one who is dedicated to parish ministry rather than to an academic career. The Fellowship will be in the amount of $9000.00. Theology Today is publishing several issues on special topics for which members of the’ Princeton Seminary faculty are guest editors. The January 1985 issue, focusing on "theology and anthropology," was edited by Professor Mark Taylor. In April, an issue devoted to new thinking in practical theology will come off the presses. Professor Thomas Long edited that issue. "The educational ministry of the church" will be the theme of the July issue which Professor Craig Dykstra is editing. Professor Patrick Miller is guest editor tor the October tssue on Biblicdstudies.

She will make a feminist theological assessment of the text describing Jesus' visit to Mary and Martha in the 10th chapter of Luke's Gospel.

Associate editor of the journal since its initial issue of publication in April 1944, Kerr became editor in 1951, assuming that position from former President Mackay.

The United States Information Agency and the Institute of Inter- national Education have announced the opening of the 1986-87 competition for grants for graduate study or research abroad. The purpose of these grants is to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries through the exchange of persons, knowledge, and skills. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, and in most cases should be

proficient in the language of the host country.

The National Capital Semester for Seminarians program is being

offered again during the summer term of 1985, from June 17 to July 26. The program focuses on developing an understanding of the legislative process and learning how to influence it. Time will be spent on Capitol Hill and in classroom discussion. This program offers a unique dimension to theological education.

The Westminster Choir College is celebrating the Bach 300th Year with a festival of Baroque music. Performances by the faculty and students of the college and the Conservatory will feature a rich variety of Bach's music and his contemporaries. An invitation to attend has been extended to Princeton Seminary students and student couples. There is a nominal charge to cover a resource packet and lunch. The seminar will be held at the Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church on Main Street in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, on Saturday, May 18, beginning at 8:45 a.m. with coffee and continuing until 3:00 p.m.

Topics will include leading the Session, thinking through Christian education, the pastor's resources, designing pastoral care, and stewardship. Several students attending last year found this program exceedingly helpful. Brochures giving a fuller description are available in the Office of the Dean of the Seminary. .

The 1985 spring Bloodmobile held on April 12 was a success, although the number of contributors was down a bit from previous drives. Eighty volunteers offered to contribute and 71 pints were donated. the second annual Frederick Neumann Memorial Lecture. Noted in a Time magazine article as "Prince of the Protestant Pulpit,"

Read is an internationally acclaimed theologian and contemporary author. A minister of the Church of Scotland, he was first chaplain at the University of Edinburgh and served as chaplain to Her Majesty the Queen in Scotland before being called to the Madison Avenue Church in 1956.

Adapted for the stage, this theatre piece comprises Benet's lively and fanciful tales and his poetry of early America. The period swings from colonial times and the Revolutionary War to the opening of the west coast and the burgeoning of the American heartland. Stories of America successfully captures Benet's vitality, humor, and creative imagery and brings the lessons of his wit and wisdom to our times.

The concert is the school's largest yearly benefit event for its scholarship fund.
