Overview

Each product in this announcement includes an OptimTM native z/OS(R) component,which runs entirely on IBM(R) z/OS, and which provides an ISPF user interface. Allenhancements discussed in this announcement refer only to the Optim native z/OScomponent support.

The Optim native z/OS component is enhanced to process Unicode data in IBMDB2(R) for z/OS. It is also enhanced to process data in the data's original codepage(also known as the data's native codepage) across DB2 for z/OS, IMSTM, VSAM, andSequential data. Optim native z/OS stores the data in its original codepage and thenmanages codepage conversions as necessary to compare, present, and otherwiseprocess it.

The Optim native z/OS component is also enhanced with features shipped overtime in Optim V11.3. Because these features shipped after the Optim V11.3announcement, they are being announced for the first time, now, in Optim V11.7.These enhancements are detailed in the Description section.

Description

The Optim native z/OS component is enhanced to process Unicode data in DB2for z/OS. It is also enhanced to process data in the data's original codepage (alsoknown as the data's native codepage) across DB2 for z/OS, IMS, VSAM, andSequential data. Optim native z/OS stores the data in its original codepage and then

manages codepage conversions as necessary to compare, present, and otherwiseprocess it.

Various Optim components are enhanced to support data in its native codepage.These components include the ACCESS editor / browser, the Compare utility, theConvert utility, Optim column map user exit processing, and Optim procedurelanguage (Lua) processing.

The Optim native z/OS component is also enhanced with features shipped over timein Optim native z/OS V11.3. Because these features shipped after the Optim V11.3announcement, they are being announced for the first time, now, in Optim V11.7.These enhancements include:

• IMS, VSAM, and z/OS Sequential Data Extract BROWSE of arrayed table columns

• Named PROC and PROC LOCAL support for Column Maps procedures written inLua

• Detect data truncation in ACCESS Edit and Browse

• Retain original column order during INSERT and DB2 LOAD processing

• Optim Lua enhancements, optim.lookup(): allow for the use of the native Optim/z LOOKUP, RAND_LOOKUP, and HASH_LOOKUP Column Map functions within Luachunks

• Eliminate use of license keys; replaced by enablement of function by the Optimadministrator

• Performance enhancement when processing variable array legacy table

• Support for DB2 for z/OS TEMPORAL and ARCHIVE tables

• Remove limits on the length of PARM string on Optim invocation

• Allow LOOKUP, HASH_LOOKUP, and RAND_LOOKUP as ODPP providers in Luaoptim.mask()

• Enhancements to PROP function in CM processing

• DB2 V12 toleration

• Support nonstandard DSNHDECP member names

• Suppress ODPP TRACE file creation

• Improve parsing of free-form SQL

The information provided in this announcement letter is for reference andconvenience purposes only. The terms and conditions that govern any transactionwith IBM are contained in the applicable contract documents such as the IBMInternational Program License Agreement, IBM International Passport Advantage(R)

Agreement, and IBM Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance.

Licensing

IBM International Program License Agreement including the License Informationdocument and Proof of Entitlement (PoE) govern your use of the program. PoEs arerequired for all authorized use.

Software Maintenance

The following agreement applies for Software Subscription and Support (SoftwareMaintenance) and does not require client signatures:

• IBM Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance (Z125-6011)

• IBM Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance (JNTC-6011)

• IBM Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance (IAAS305 or others)

These programs are licensed under the IBM Program License Agreement (IPLA) andthe associated Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance, which providefor support with ongoing access to releases and versions of the program. Theseprograms have a one-time license charge for use of the program and an annualrenewable charge for the enhanced support that includes telephone assistance(voice support for defects during normal business hours), as well as access toupdates, releases, and versions of the program as long as support is in effect.

IBM warrants that when the program is used in the specified operating environment,it will conform to its specifications. The warranty applies only to the unmodifiedportion of the program. IBM does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operationof the program or that IBM will correct all program defects. You are responsible forthe results obtained from the use of the program.

IBM provides you with access to IBM databases containing information on knownprogram defects, defect corrections, restrictions, and bypasses at no additionalcharge. For further information, see the IBM Software Support Handbook.

IBM will maintain this information for at least one year after the original licenseeacquires the program (warranty period).

Program technical support

Technical support of a program product version or release will be available for aminimum of five years from the general availability date, as long as your SoftwareSubscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) is in effect.

This technical support allows you to obtain assistance (by telephone or electronicmeans) from IBM for product-specific, task-oriented questions regarding theinstallation and operation of the program product. Software Subscription andSupport (Software Maintenance) also provides you with access to updates(modifications or fixes), releases, and versions of the program. You will be notified,through an announcement letter, of discontinuance of support with 12 months'notice. If you require additional technical support from IBM, including an extensionof support beyond the discontinuance date, contact your IBM representative or IBMBusiness Partner. This extension may be available for a fee.

Money-back guarantee

If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program and you are the originallicensee, you may obtain a refund of the amount you paid for it, if within 30 days ofyour invoice date you return the program and its PoE to the party from whom youobtained it. If you downloaded the program, you may contact the party from whomyou acquired it for instructions on how to obtain the refund.

For clarification, note that for programs acquired under any of IBM's On/Off Capacityon Demand (On/Off CoD) software offerings, this term does not apply since theseofferings apply to programs already acquired and in use by you.

Yes. During the Software Subscription and Support period, for the unmodifiedportion of a program, and to the extent problems can be recreated in the specifiedoperating environment, IBM will provide the following:

• Defect correction information, a restriction, or a bypass.

• Program updates: Periodic releases of collections of code corrections, fixes,functional enhancements and new versions and releases to the program anddocumentation.

• Technical assistance: A reasonable amount of remote assistance by telephoneor electronically to address suspected program defects. Technical assistance isavailable from the IBM support center in the organization's geography.

Software Subscription and Support does not include assistance for:

• The design and development of applications.

• Your use of programs in other than their specified operating environment.

Software Subscription and Support is provided only if the program is within itssupport timeframe as specified in the Software Support Lifecycle policy for theprogram.

Multi-Version Measurement

Multi-Version Measurement (MVM) replaces the previously announced MigrationGrace Period time limit of six months and allows unlimited time for clients to runmore than one eligible version of a software program. Clients may run multipleversions of a program simultaneously for an unlimited duration during a programversion upgrade. Clients may also choose to run multiple versions of a programsimultaneously for an unlimited duration in a production environment. MVM does notextend support dates for programs withdrawn from service.
