Tenax Turf Reinforcement Mesh is a tough extrudedpolymer grid for the permanent reinforcement of grassedareas used by vehicles and pedestrians.

For best results the mesh should be laid down in springwhen the grass will grow quickly through the mesh andthe root mass will interlock with the mesh filaments. Theprotected area will soon resume its natural appearance,providing a stable surface which will withstand the weightof lightweight vehicles and heavy pedestrian use.

GrassTrack

TENAX GrassTrack is a heavy duty polymer grid with a highstrength geo-textile bonded to the mesh which provides adual function in grassed areas which are particularly wet andmuddy. With the geo-textile laid to the ground and the meshon top, GrassTrack can be rolled out over the problem area toallow access by cars and lightweight vans.

With the geo-textile to the top, GrassTrack then provides asafe and clean access by pedestrians. In both cases the

membrane prevents mud from permeating through the mesh.Without this protection, the constant traffic would create a‘pumping’ action which brings mud to the surface.

In areas that require the high load bearing capacity ofasphalt, TENAX GridLock offers a soft landscaping solution to hard landscaping problems. In addition it isboth economically viable and aesthetically pleasing.

Manufactured from HDPE into convenient sized injection-moulded pavers, TENAX GridLock is resistant to oil,chemicals and extremes of temperature and has thestrength to withstand loads in excess of 170 tonnes persquare metre.

Unlike traditional methods of constructing hard-standingareas, there is less site preparation required with GridLockwhich enhances the sub-base reducing the need forexcavation and expensive granular backfill.

Installation is quickly carried out by placing the pavers ona bedding layer of sand and soil. Interconnecting and self-positioning supports provide stability and link multipleunits when covering large areas. The cells of the paverscan then be in-filled with soil following which seeding cantake place. Alternatively turf can be laid directly onto theproduct and lightly rolled in. If demarcation lines arerequired, white hexagon-shaped mouldings can beinserted into the cells or filled with stone.

Emergency access roads, road verge reinforcement, lightaircraft taxiways, helicopter landing pads and lorry parksare but a few of the many applications to which thisversatile product can be used.

When farm gateways and tracks become waterlogged andimpassable because of deep mud, TENAX GroundStabilising Mesh provides a low-cost and effective solutionto this problem.

TENAX Ground Stabilising Mesh is high strength polymergrid which when covered with a layer of well-graded,rough stone, (Type 1 Roadstone), forms a rigid interlock,restraining the lateral movement of the stone andproducing a stable surface for animals, farm equipmentand other vehicles.

Installation is simply carried out by levelling the surfaceand filling any deep ruts with crushed stone and removingany major projections. The TENAX Ground StabilisingMesh can then be rolled out over the prepared site andcovered evenly with the required depth of stone. Thedepth of stone will depend on the ground conditions andthe purpose for which the access or track is required,however, the table below will act as a general guide.

The protected area can then be used immediately andover a period of time will compact even more resulting ina permanent access route.

Note: In severe muddy situations, it is advisable to installan effective drainage system.

Grass surfaces can be very unforgiving if accidentally fallenupon and can also be very slippery following heavy rainfall. Inaddition if the wet grassed area is used frequently bypedestrians, this can quickly turn into a muddy path with thegrass roots completely worn away.

TENAX SafetyMat is an environmentally friendly, non-slip,impact absorbing safety surface which provides a solution tothese problems. Provided that the quality of soil is capable of sustainingand preserving organic material, the planting ofvegetation is a well-established means of preventing soilerosion on slopes and embankments and there is a widechoice of herbaceous plants and shrubs that are suitablefor this purpose. However, during the initial phase ofplanting, the topsoil is easily subjected to washout andsoil erosion during heavy rainfall, its consequential rillingand by strong winds.

Such conditions can result in significant loss of soil andthe formation of moderately deep furrows. All this occursbecause of the barrenness and fragility of the vegetationduring its initial phase of growth because the root systemhas had insufficient time to become established in the substrate.

TENAX Multimat 100 and 30 erosion control geo-mats arethree-dimensional structures, manufactured from threepolypropylene meshes that have been extruded andsubsequently oriented. The products have a high tensilestrength and a low unit weight which makes the geo-matsideally suited for installing on steep and very long slopes.

Installation can be carried out by unskilled labour simplyby unrolling the TENAX Multimat onto the slope, fixing inplace with metal pins and filling with topsoil. Grassgrowth can then be established either by hand seeding orhydro-seeding. Once installed the bi-dimensional structureof the geo-mats protects the layer of topsoil and anchorsthe roots of the grass to the soil matrix, thus helping tominimise both the effect of rain impact and soil migrationdue to surface runoff.

TENAX Multimat 100 is protected against UV degradationby the addition of carbon black during the manufacturingprocess and, therefore, is highly resistant to the effects oflong term exposure to direct sunlight. Typical applicationsfor TENAX Multimat are for the protection of roadwayditches, slope protection, storm and irrigation channels,lakeside banks and landfill capping.

TENAX Promat 70 is a polypropylene geo-mat comprisingtwo layers of extruded and bi-oriented grids designed toprotect and help establish rapid grass growth on slopesand embankments subject to surface erosion. Onceinstalled the bi-dimensional structure of the geo-matprotects the layer of topsoil and anchors the roots of thegrass to the soil matrix, thus helping to minimise both theeffect of rain impact and soil migration due to surfacerunoff. Because of its material composition, TENAXPromat offers a greater degree of long term protectionthan degradable products such as jute and hessian mats.

The ground on slopes is often dry and rocky due to lack oforganic material. Under these conditions, it is necessaryfor an adequate depth of soil to be provided to allow forgrowth of vegetation. Since topsoil has poor mechanicalproperties, it can easily slide down the slope and getwashed away by heavy rainfall before vegetation hasbecome established.

TENAX Tenweb geo-cells are honeycomb shaped structuresin heights ranging from 25 to 100mm. Manufactured bycontinuous extrusion of polyethylene without anywelding, the structure expands and, therefore, can bestored and transported with minimal space. Whenopened up during installation, a series of completelyinterconnecting ovoid cells with diameters ranging from100 to 300mm is created.Once expanded to its maximumextension and filled with lightly compacted soil or fine aggregate, a monolithic structure is created providing aneffective means of confinement for unconsolidatedmaterials within the cells and preventing their movement

even on steep slopes. If required the area can then beseeded to maintain a ‘green’ environment.

The junctions of Tenweb have a central opening throughwhich water can permeate ensuring that organic materialreceives moisture for rapid growth.

Earthworks such as dams, canal banks, highways andrailway embankments require stabilisation in order toprevent soil erosion by strong winds and heavy rainfall.The planting of vegetation will prevent this fromhappening, however, while this is becoming establishedthere is the potential problem of washout of the topsoiland the subsequent loss of any vegetative planting.

A number of erosion control structures are available toprovide an answer to this problem, however, where abiodegradable solution is preferred, TENAX can offer anatural alternative to man-made structures with ourHiSlope erosion control blankets.

Manufactured from coconut fibre, they are natural,organic and eco-friendly and will degrade in around twoto three years after which time vegetation will havebecome firmly established. Highly effective as a means ofsoil stabilisation, TENAX HiSlope erosion control blanketsdisintegrate to form humus adding two tonnes ofnutrients per acre on decomposition.

In addition, these blankets absorb solar radiation,therefore reducing the impact of excessive heating andare 100% non-pollutant.
