Barnabus was founded in 1991by Peter and Beryl Green, whocame across rough sleepers onenight, and went back to sit withthem with sandwiches and coffeenight after night.

Our Values
The Beacon Support Centre on Bloom Street offers the practical support peopleneed with food, showers, clothing and accessing services such as Housing Solutionsand DWP. We have great partnerships with Urban Village Medical Practice, whoseHomeless Outreach Nurses provide that vital healthcare link so many homelesspeople lack. We work with Greater Manchester Mental Health and Change Grow Livewho both run services in the Beacon, along with Haircuts4Homeless, physioservices from Manchester Metropolitan University and optician services.
We have case workers who work longer term with those who may need moreintensive support. We have a thriving Resettlement team who provide support tothose people in private tenancies, helping them find purpose and being a part oftheir community.
Everything we do is designed to empower people to become independent, to makepositive choices for themselves and to leave behind the trauma of homelessness forgood.
At Barnabus our team is our most important asset; we support one another andeveryone’s voice and experience is vital in running an effective service. We strive tobe better than we were yesterday; we are a learning environment, where we learnfrom mistakes and don’t judge or blame others.
What we do
This role focuses on facilitating the Christian spiritual journey for our guests atBarnabus. From prayer to worship, organising volunteers and engaging with faithleaders, the role involves both relationship building as well as project managementand communications. The role will also give time for face to face contact with ourguests to share the Gospel both in the Beacon and on outreach across the city’shomeless community.
You will have a flexible, caring attitude, be intuitive, self-motivated and have theability to prioritise your workload under pressure, remaining calm and respectful ofpersons at all times. You will have excellent communication and organisational skillsand be competent in the use of Microsoft Office systems such as Word, Excel andPowerpoint.
About the role
The Dwell Project resources all the faith activities that run throughout Barnabus andconnects Barnabus with all its supporting churches and helps us to achieve ourvision to empower people into a home in Christ's love.The Dwell project name is inspired by Exodus 15:13,17, where we see God's plan tolead His people to His dwelling place which is both a physical and spiritual home.We believe in a holistic approach to end people’s experience of homelessness thatencompasses physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being.
This Dwell Project Leader will therefore focus on facilitating the Christian spiritualjourney for our guests at Barnabus. From prayer to worship, organising volunteersand engaging with faith leaders, the role involves both relationship building as wellas project management and communications. The role will also give time for face toface contact with our guests to share the Gospel both in the Beacon and onoutreach across the city’s homeless community. Barnabus is a Christian charity so we want to provide a place where our guests canencounter the Love of God in all we do (whether they have faith or not). Built oncompassion, honour and respect, we encourage those often forgotten by society tohave the opportunity to explore what it means to be a Christian. Our hope is that aswe help individuals with all their practical needs they would also have theopportunity to come to know Christ, and we would therefore see their livestransformed with hope. The Dwell Project
Role: Dwell Project Leader
Hours: 30 Hours a week
Location: Based at our Support Office at 61 Bloom Street, Manchester, you will be expected to work in various partner locations as well as the main accommodation scheme.
Salary: £19,563 (30 hours pro rata)
Pension: 5% Pension Contribution
Annual leave: 24 days per calendar year excluding public and bank holidays.
Contract: 12 month fixed term contract

Role description
Project Management of the Dwell Project:- Leading and developing Barnabus’ faith activities and outreach - Actively seeking to grow and sustain current and new partnerships with 3rd parties- Helping to formulate and update policies and procedures, training and assessments. Running Faith Activities / Outreach:- Actively seeking opportunities to share the Gospel with Barnabus Guests who areengaging with the service- Running Prayer and Reflection, Alpha, Discipleship and inner healing sessions - Leading outreach opportunities in the city centre, hostels, and other homelessprojects to encourage guests in their faith by offering prayer and pastoral support - Leading and developing the ‘Boiler Room’ prayer space – organising volunteers to usethe space to pray for the work of Barnabus and for the City of Manchester- Facilitating prayer meetings during the week for staff, and volunteers and monthlymeetings with church supporters Managing Volunteers and Interns:- Ensuring there are enough volunteers for each session including outreach - Briefing volunteers prior to each session and debriefing at the end of the session- Ensuring volunteers are aware of procedures and have undertaken training- Overseeing internship programmes and helping to manage and train any interns.- Recruiting volunteer teams, managing rotas and co-ordinating with 3rd party projectsfor outreach schedule Communications and Admin:- Arranging guest speakers and worship leaders for the Prayer & Reflection session - Reporting to grant providers and recording testimonies, prophetic words and prayer- Updating database - Writing communications for church partners (Prayer updates, blog posts, resourcesand social media) Pastoral Support:- Offering prayer and pastoral support to the Barnabus staff and volunteer communityas well as to our guests. Providing Data:- Ensuring you and your team use the Barnabus database and understand theimportance of complete record keeping - Ensuring GDPR procedures are adhered to and confidentiality maintained
