FROM THE LANCASTER CITY COUNCIL FROM THE LPAC FOUNDATION PRESIDENT

2 | Lancaster Performing Arts Center (661) 723-5950 LPAC.ORG

After more than a year of being closed due to COVID-19, the Lancaster City Council is thrilled that the Lancaster Performing Arts Center (LPAC) has reopened its doors just in time to celebrate its 30th anniversary. So many of us in the Valley have been anxiously awaiting the opportunity to enjoy in-person entertainment, and we are so proud that Lancaster is home to a cultural destination like LPAC where we can gather once again to enjoy the arts as a community.

The center’s 2021-2022 performance schedule is filled with shows that will delight audience members of all ages and backgrounds all season long. Our 30th season also includes a nostalgic and sentimental trip down memory lane with classic performances honoring Ray Charles, The Carpenters, ABBA, Led Zeppelin, Elvis, and John Denver.

Music lovers will enjoy the sounds of American classics with performances by artists ranging from doo-wop and R&B legends The Drifters and The Four Phantoms to The Voice winner, Chevel Shepherd. If you are looking for fresh vocals or instrumentals, you will find something to enjoy here at LPAC this season – whether you see the Grammy Award-winning Mariachi Los Camperos or the best of Broadway and Disney with Lea Salonga.

Comedic and dramatic shows will also take the stage this season, bringing long-awaited roars of laughter and cheers to their live audiences. LPAC will welcome acclaimed comedians such as Paul Rodriguez during the AV Comedy Festival, as well as the longtime favorite Whose Live Anyway? show. The Great DuBois is yet another renowned performance act sure to strike awe in audience members with their high-energy circus and incredible feats.

When it comes to Lancaster’s youngest theater-goers, there is much for our community’s youth to look forward to this LPAC season. The center will host seasonal favorites such as The Nutcracker ballet and the amazing Artrageous, in addition to other family-friendly events—like a Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along—throughout the year.

As we return to enjoying in-person entertainment, we hope that the past year continues to remind us to appreciate venues such as LPAC and the importance of the arts in general. We are honored to be home to the Lancaster Performing Arts Center and we look forward to seeing you there this season!

Looking back over the past year and the challenges we have faced, one word resonates with the Lancaster Performing Arts Center Foundation, RESILIENCE. Throughout the unimaginable shuttering of the Lancaster Performing Arts Center (LPAC), the Foundation stood firm in its resolve to support and advocate for performing arts education for community youth. With the absence of participation in live performing arts education, it was brought to light that creativity in learning and exposure to the arts is ESSENTIAL for healthy young minds and spirts. The Foundation’s relationship with the Lancaster Performing Arts Center guarantees the opportunity for our region’s youth to experience and discover world-class entertainment and arts education in their own backyard through participation in the Arts for Youth program. In this capacity, the Foundation has helped provide more than 430,000 students the chance to experience live stage performances, and most recently, offer virtual performing arts programming for remote and distance learning. The Lancaster Performing Arts Center Foundation’s ability to support arts education could not be achieved without its supporters, the citizens of our Valley, whose passion and commitment to the arts inspires them to make a difference in their community. The educational opportunities for more than 15,000 students annually, rely on the generous donations of people like you that help bring outstanding live shows to the LPAC main stage, as well as provide virtual programming, ticket support, and transportation to the theatre for students who may not otherwise be able to attend these productions. Additionally, in support of higher education, the Foundation provides a deserving local high school senior with the largest college performing arts scholarship offered from an Antelope Valley based organization. Our Valley’s students are on the horizon of returning to the LPAC, where they will once again share in the common experience of the arts through live performance. Please consider becoming a donor or renew your commitment to the arts so we may continue to provide essential Arts for Youth programming. Visit lpacf.org for more information on how to keep performing arts alive in your community. Very Truly Yours,

R. Steven Derryberry, President

Brian Regan’s critically-acclaimed standup routines range from sarcasm to everyday observations, with an innate ability to appeal to just about everyone. Regan turns the most mundane situations – like going to the eye doctor to get fitted for glasses or trying to decide how many Fig Newtons to eat in one sitting – into side-splitting stand-up material. Called by Vanity Fair “The funniest stand-up alive,” and Entertainment Weekly “Your favorite comedian’s favorite comedian,” Regan has built a 30-year career on the strength of his material alone, which is relatable to generations of fans and revered by his comedic peers.
