We should encourage them and allow them to express their ideas. Freedom of expression generates new ideas and bringing out their original thoughts. Parents also may involve the young minds in few of the decision making in home and involve the children in household budgets We public schools should focus on giving students opportunities to practice planning and team-building skills by providing small group projects which will require them to think creatively, listen to group members and deal patiently with different personalities. More- over, as students become more assertive and self-confident, they improve their academic and social skills, increasing the likelihood of becoming leaders. At Birla Balika Vidyape- eth, we provide ample opportunities and freedom of expression to bring out the natural potential, hidden among children, be it in the playground or classroom or scholastic or extra-curricular activities. We nurture creativity by providing ample opportunities in Music, Dance, Art, Craft, (for elementary & secondary classes) Home Science, Interior Decoration and Commercial Art (for senior students). We also provide ample opportuni- ties to students to display their creativity and originality of thinking in events like Post- er Making, Collage making, Slogan writing, Card making, Rakhi making, Salad making competitions conducted on various occasions. Some children are gifted with pleasing personality, natural self-confidence and are easily approachable that makes other children want to move closer and work with them. But other children, whether they are “born leaders” or not, also have the ability to become leaders. Many great leaders like Gandhiji, Acharya Vinoba Bhave, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Abraham Lincoln and many others, despite having little or no formal authority or family influence, led others and become good examples of Acquired Leadership Qual-ities and also shown that such qualities can be inculcated.

Leadership skill cannot be acquired by reading a textbook or listening to a lecture. Lead-ership is a skill, not a formal position and is acquired by interacting with people. Oppor-tunities that may develop qualities like determination, focus, decisive ness, time manage-ment, confidence and self-discipline among students develop the leadership among them. In this way the public schools play an important role in inculcating the habits that can produce future leaders.

Teachers must develop positive and healthy relationship with their students to unfold a student’s brilliant potential and unleash his/her wild imaginations. The natural originality and creativity of a student from cer-tain everyday abilities of perception, understanding, logic, memory, and thinking style develop the natural leader in them. We public schools should focus on giving students opportunities to practice planning and team-building skills by providing small group projects which will require them to think creatively, listen to group members and deal patiently with different personalities.
