WELCOME TO

TRAVELERS SUNSET AFFAIR: MAGNIFICENT MIGRATIONS

COMO FRIENDS' ANNUAL SUMMER BENEFIT FOR COMO PARK ZOO AND CONSERVATORY

2

WELCOME TO TRAVELERS SUNSET AFFAIR: MAGNIFICENT MIGRATIONS

Dear Friends:

We are thrilled to be the honorary co-chairs for Como Friends’ Travelers Sunset Affair: Magnificent Migrations. Como Park Zoo and Conservatory truly holds a special place in our lives and in our hearts. We both have fond memories of coming to Como as children and as our children were growing up we visited often—and now our grandchildren also love this treasure in our backyard. Como has come so far over the decades, moving away from the old cages and tortoise rides, toward cutting edge habitats like Polar Bear Odyssey and Gorilla Forest and interactive experiences like the Giraffe Feeding Station and Blooming Butterflies. Como Park Zoo and Conservatory is so much more than a zoo and botanical garden, it is an education destination, a community classroom for teaching sustainable and conservation practices, and most importantly, an inspiring gathering place where everyone is welcome, free of charge. Tonight, we encourage you to experience Como by attending the zoo keeper talks, visiting with the Nature Walk teen conservation volunteers, stopping by the interpretive stations, interacting with the animal ambassadors—and trekking to see our “Magnificent Migrators”: the reindeer, bison, polar bears, flamingos and butterflies.

Your generous bids tonight for the nearly 300 silent auction items and gifts toward our Fund-a-Need requests will support pressing priorities at Como. Whether you help to buy the sweet corn that the Como Zoo’s bison love to browse, or contribute toward the restoration of the gorgeous Charlotte Partridge Ordway Japanese Garden, or invest in preserving Sparky’s legacy, a contribution of any size can make a big difference at Como, a true jewel in our community.

Owned by all, enjoyed by all, and free to all, there are few places like Como Park Zoo and Conservatory anywhere else. Your contributions help Como to thrive and to continue its legacy so that future generations can enjoy just as we have.

Thank you!

Bill and Diane Kaphing Honorary Co-Chairs
