Department profile

The Department of Physical Education was established in the year 2007. For the promotion of

sports standards, the department facilitates the students with training facilities in almost all major sports,

Trained teams of BIT Campus has made remarkable achievements in zonal, inter zonal, district and state

level competitions.

Vision of the Department

The Department has wider opportunity for the students to participate in sports and games and

enable them to identify their innate talents in sports and improve their sports standards and performance to

higher levels.

Mission of the Department

The Department makes every youth of this Campus healthy and to become a productive member

of the society as they are the nation builders of the builders.

Annual Report for 2012-2013

Our Department actively participating in the sports and games since 2010. This

department headed by me with help of three Assistant Directors. We have two Professional

Assistant, one Marker and a Sweeper. The following achievement of the Sports and Games

reflection of Regional Director and Dean as well as all the faculty members of Anna University

BIT Campus. Its really like being at the pinnacle of joy for me to stand before you all to submit

the Annual Sports Report of the Anna University, BIT Campus.

Anna University, BIT Campus has actively participated in the Zonal Tournaments and

Won 14 Trophies includes (4-Winners, 8-Runners up and 2-Third Position – at Zone – 13,

Tournament conducted by various affiliated colleges in zone 13 Tiruchirappalli.

M.Muthukaluvan from Final year ECE has Secured gold medal in Long jump, Silver medal in Shot Put and

Bronze medal in Javelin.

M.Kesavamoorthy from Final year EEE has secured gold medal in 50 m. And Silver medal in Triple Jump.

N.Vignesh of final year ECE has secured three Bronze medals respectively 50m.100 m and long jump.

R.Vignesh from final year CSE has secured silver medal in javelin and bronze medal in Discus throw.

R.Selvaraj from second year mech. have secured Silver medal in Shot put.

R.Vino from final year ECE has Secured Bronze medals in Shot put and Javelin.

Fencing Achievement, Tournament held at Parisutham Institute of Technology and Science, Thanjavur.

E. Lakshmi Prabha from final year ECE has secured Bronze medal in Foil event.

A.Apsara from third year ECE has secured Silver medal in Epee event.

S.Arun Prasad From second year ECE has won two Bronze medals respectively Epee and Foil event.

M.Ravichandran From second year ECE has secured Silver medal in Epee event.

A.Stanlyraj From Second year Parma has secured gold medal in two zone basis competition and won

Bronze medal in inter zonal competition held at vallaiammai Engineering College, Chennai.

It is really honor to the Department of Physical Education and Anna University BIT Campus,

that 8 Players were selected to represent the Anna University Team.( out of 540 Engineering

Colleges). They have Participated South zone Inter University Tournament and All India Inter

University Competition for the year 2012-2013. The Players are:

E. Lakshmi Prabha final year ECE, for Fencing.

A.Apsara third year ECE, for Fencing.

S.Arun Prasad second year EEE for Fencing.

M.Ravichandran second year EEE for Fencing, all above said players participated All India Inter

University Competition held at Punjab University, Patiala.

P.Sathya final year EEE for KhoKho.

S. Rathiya Second year ECE for KhoKho.

S.Kalaiselvi second year IT for KhoKho.

M.Umamaheshwari Final year Pharma for KhoKho all above said players participated South zone Inter

University Tournament held Calicut University, Calicut.

All India Inter University Achievements E. Lakshmi Prabha final year ECE and A.Apsara third year ECE have won Bronze medals in the All

India Inter-University Fencing Tournaments held at Punjab University, Patiala.

National level tournament A.Apsara third year ECE and S.Arun Prasad second year EEE are selected for Tamilnadu team to

participate Junior National Fencing Championship held at Raipur, Chhattisgarh. And they won (Gold –

2, Silver – 2 and Bronze – 4)

Out Station Tournament.

Our Handball team has secured Runner- up at VIT University Tournament organized by VIT

University, Vellore.

M.Muthukaluvan from Final year ECE has Secured Bronze Medal in Swimming Freestyle event held

at Jain University, Bangalore and he has awarded Best Player in the tournament. He also

participated in the regular competition and won bronze medal.

Our men Volleyball team has secured runner-up trophy in the state level inter collegiate

Tournament held at Alagappa Chettiyar College, Karaikudi.

Our men Kho-Kho team have Won third position at state level inter collegiate Tournament

organized by Thiyagaraya Engineering College, Madurai.

Our Ball badminton players have won third position in Ball badminton Doubles Tournament held

at Jamal Mohamed College Trichy.

I am proud to say that our Differently Abled students also have participated out station

tournament. M.Muthukaluvan from Final year ECE and M.Kesavamoorthy from Final year EEE have

secured Bronze medals in Table Tennis. A.C.Arunkumar final year IT, R. Vignesh final year

CSE and C. Tirupathi third year CSE have won Runner-up in Volleyball at 7th

National Games

for the Differently Abled person Tournament held at Chennai.

Our Women Basketball Team has Secured Fourth Position in State Level Inter Collegiate

Tournament conducted by St. Joseph’s College of Engineering, Chennai.

Our Women Table Tennis Team has Secured Fourth Position in State Level Inter Collegiate

Tournament conducted by St. Joseph’s College of Engineering, Chennai.

Our Men Football Team has Secured Third Position and won Rs.10, 000/- cash award in the

State Level Inter Collegiate Mala Football Trophy conducted by J.J. College of Engineering,

Trichy.

Our Men Hockey Team has Secured Runner - up in the District Level Inter Collegiate
