Bilasipara college had hard work for making the
seminar a grand success one.

ACLA extends its heartiest thanks to Prof. Sanjay
Kumar Singh, HOD, DLIS, Gauhati University for
taking the initiative for the Refresher course in
Library and Information Sc of HRDC-GU programme
for the Session 2019-20. ACLA is also thankful to the
Director of HRDC-G.U. for giving importance to the
request.
ACLA INITIATIVE FOR INFLIBNET
INDCAT PROGRAMME:
ACLA has sent an official mail to the Director of
INLIBNET centre on 13th March, 2019 with a request
to include the Bibliographic data of the Provincialized
College Libraries of Assam in the Indacat Server
(NerCat) of INFLIBNET Centre. INFLIBNET centre
has on the very same day of receiving the letter of
ACLA has agreed to the request of ACLA.
INFLIBNET centre also requested the General
Secretary of ACLA to coordinate from the state of
Assam and to provide the bibliographic data in
MARC21 format to INFLIBNET. Moreover, Assam
will be the first state in N.E-India and second state all
over India (after Gujarat) who is going to be a part of
IndCat programme of INFLIBNET as College
Component. An individual letter is also sent from the
General Secretary, ACLA to the different college
Principals along with a copy to the respective
Librarians of the provincialized colleges of Assam.
ACLA has also sought the cooperation of Assam
College Principals council in this regard. On behalf
of General Secretary, the ICT cell of ACLA is
coordinating with different colleges of Assam in
receiving the bibliographic data. It is a matter of great
pride that the Honourable College Principals and
Librarians of different colleges have actively
responded the request of ACLA and more than 75
colleges have already submitted their bibliographic
data to ICT CELL, ACLA.
ICT CELL, ACLAThe ICT Cell of ACLA was constituted in the 15th
Biennial Conferences of ACLA held in Tinsukia
Commerce College, Tinsukia, Assam from 10th Oct
to 12th Oct, 2018. The cell targets to bring all the
College libraries to a uniform platform be it Library
automation, Digital library, library webpage, Union
Catalogue, College Librarians technical expertise
irrespective of all the geographical differences. The
members of the ICT cell are the college librarians of
Assam and also the general members of ACLA who
will help the other college librarians in handling the
technical aspect minimizing the dependence on
outside support.
ACTIVITIES OF ICT CELL, ACLA
DURING LAST ONE YEAR
1. ICT cell, ACLA under the guidance of the General
Secretary, ACLA, Dr.P.K.Deka has coordinated the

work for the participation of the college libraries
of Assam in the INFLIBNET IndCat services : an
union national catalogue of university libraries of
India. The cell has coordinated the work for
dispatching the individual official letters to more
than 200 College Principals and Librarians of
Assam. The cell has actively collected the
bibliographic data from the different colleges.
2. ICT cell, ACLA has extended their professional
onsite services on SOUL installation and training
to the library staff of Jonai Girls college, Jonai,
Dhemaji (10/08/2019).
3. ICT cell, ACLA extended onsite services on SOUL
Training to the library staff Dhemaji Girls College,
Dhemaji (18/10/2019).
4. ICT cell, ACLA extending their onsite services on
SOUL installation and training to the library staff
of Laluk college, Laluk,Lakhimpur (18/08/2019).
5. ICT cell, ACLA extending their onsite services on
SOUL installation and training to the library staff
of Kalabari college, Kalabari,Gohpur, Biswanath
chariali (28/10/2019).
6. ICT cell, ACLA has further extended their services
by connecting the library professionals with the You
Tube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/
UCZ6sx2WWU3IubIYw_hT8cjA/featured) and
Official Facebook page (https://
www.facebook.com/ICTcellACLA) of ICT
CELL,ACLA. Here videos on the different aspects
of soul software is already uploaded.

Aligarh Muslim University on 25th October, 2019
in his chamber and felicitates and presented him
the ACLA Publications.

(a) G.S, ACLA IN 65th Annual Conference of ACTA
On behalf of Assam College Librarian’s
Association, General Secretary Dr. Prasanta Kumar
Deka was invited in the 65th Annual Conference
of Assam College Teacher’s Association (ACTA)
held at B. Borooah College Guwahati from 27th
June – 30th June 2019. Dr. Deka delivered a speech
on the aims and objects of ACLA. He also expressed
the important relation between the Teacher and
Librarian in the college.
(b) ACLA GS in a workshop
ACLA GS along with GS, ACTA in a workshop on
“Application of Research Methodology and Quanti-
tative Technique in Humanities and Social Science
Research” in DK Girls College, Mirza.
A team of Librarians from different colleges of Assam
under Provincilization Act-2013 has meet the
General Secretary, ACLA with their issues and seek
the help from ACLA.

LIBRARIANS’ DAY-2019
Commemorating the 127th birth anniversary of Dr.
S. R. Ranganathan, Father of library science in India,
the Assam college Librarian’s Association has
celebrated the Librarian’s Day-2019 in the
Radhamadhab college, Silchar on 12th August, 2019.

and participants. The zonal Meeting of ACLA Barak
valley was also held at Radhamadhab College silchar.
The celebration of Librarians Day-2019 and the zonal
meeting were organized by ACLA Barak valley Unit

03/11/2019 The 3rd biennial conference of Library
Science and Information Professional Association
(LISPA) was held with colaboration of Silapathar
college library at Silapathar College.
06/11/2019 One day book display programme was
held at Silapathar College premises where the teachers
of the college have actively participated.
In all the programme Principal of the Silapathar
College Dr. Lakhi Nath Pegu has provided his full
support for making the programme a grand success
one.

6/08/2019 S. T. Library, B. N. college in
collaboration with IQAC of the college has
oraganized a lecture programme on Users
Motivation in using Library Resources. Prof.
Sanjay Kumar Singh and Dr Prasanta Kumar Deka
were the resource persons for the programme. Dr.
Dhruba Chakrabortty, Principal of the college has
provided all round support to the college library in
organizing the programme.
10. Dibru College
(Librarian - Mrs. Dipika Das):
The 4th Volume of Peer review Journal Granthakuti
was released on 5th Jan, 2019. Also, the 9th sitting of
READERS’ Club namely “Partha Bijoy Baithak” was
organised by the Central Library in collaboration with
Partha -Jiwan Nyas. An extension programme on the
occasion of Librarians’ Day was held at Mankotta
High School to increase the reading habits among
students. Inauguration of Atul Borthakur Memorial
Corner(Rare Book) was done by the Principal Dr Jitu
Buragohain.
11. SMD College
(Librarian - Dr. Jyotika Borthakur) :
Summer camp at SMD College Library (2nd July-
18th July, 2019). The certificate was distributed by
Forest man of India Padma Shri Sri Jadav Payeng.
