Presenters (P): What do you want to be when you grow up? What do you always dream of becoming? You are entering your senior year in high school and either you’ve probably been asked or you’ve ask yourself what your plans are after graduating from High School. This can be a very confusing time, trying to figure out what’s next.

A Note for Our Teachers

Edukasyon.ph is a social enterprise focused on helping young people online find the careers that fit them. Through this website (www.edukasyon.ph); college courses, universities, and scholarships data locally and abroad are made available that help students chart their educational journey to the jobs they aspire for. This platform can serve as an ideal tool used in career talks and career clinics conducted by the guidance council of schools. This power point presentation gives a detailed explanation on Edukasyon.ph, how it is presented, its contents, and how it is used. It is a step by step presentation starting with a brief eye opening activity, stimulating the interest and dreams of the students through talking about exemplar people and what they have accomplished, transitioning to a introduction of what Edukasyon.ph is all about and what it offers, then a detailed demo of how to register and use the website. Through the joint efforts of both the Edukasyon.ph team and the cooperation of the schools guidance council, we hope to achieve maximum participation, spreading the opportunity of education to every Filipino in the country. We hope that through this PPT, we can help your students find the right senior high schools, colleges, and courses to reach their dream careers.

P: Do you know these people and what they’ve become? (Have students answer and give a brief intro on who they are and their respective industry) <i.e.> These are people who became experts in their field of work. For instance, take a look at Mike Zuckerberg, the guy to the upper left. You all must know the site Facebook - well, he’s behind it. He and his roommates from Harvard University created Facebook in the dormitory, launched it on campus, and now Facebook is the world’s most popular media owner. Another exemple is the girl to the upper right, Jessica Soho. Jessica Soho is a graduate from the University of the Philippines and a Filipino broadcast journalist who received over 60 outstanding awards in the field of journalism.

P: These are people who we look up to, people who we idealize, people we would want to be in our own fields someday Do you think of yourselves becoming like these people?

P: But how? Where do you even begin? How do you begin? So many questions now unanswered and so many what ifs coursing through your head. You may have an idea of what you want to do, your course, or even have a very clear career path drawn up, however, do you know how to go about it? What are the opportunities out there available for you? What the best colleges, universities, senior high programs are? Or it could be the opposite, not knowing what you want to take up, where to go, or what the educational opportunities are for you yet time is pressuring you to decide sooner or later.

P: Probably, the biggest question asked (or being avoided) by high school students is “what to do after or where to go” : Whenever you think about life after high school, you think of these problems or questions: What do I study or take up and where do I go? Financially, how do I pay for my schooling? What is my career path?

P: Edukasyon.ph is an online resource center that you can use to help you answer all those questions to give you the right opportunities to be empowered and eventually, successful. Edukasyon.ph believes in providing students an opportunity to get an education for the careers they aspire for through connecting people to the right educational institutions, creating link-up opportunities for educational opportunities and scholarships that can bring them closer to their dream careers.

P: What is Edukasyon.ph? It’s a website that has a database of senior high, college, technical-vocation courses (like TESDA), and scholarships both in the Philippines and abroad. Students just need to log on to the website, search for the available courses and apply! Access the internet and proceed to the website: Edukasyon.ph, Users may browse through the different college courses, technical-vocational courses, or senior high school programs made available. Now searching for educational institutions offering courses of your preference are made easy by the site.

P: The interface was made user-friendly and fun for users.

P: By clicking each career, you can find the right courses to reach that career goal.

P: Edukasyon’s website currently has these numbers of institutions, courses and scholarships on our database.

P: For Senior High School, There are also four specific tracks designed by each educational institution: Academic, Technical-Vocational Livelihood, Sports, and Arts & Design. Every school will have certain tracks that they will be featuring within their school.

P: There is a core curriculum featuring 8 learning areas. Standard basic subject matter the students take up.

P: Who has heard of TESDA or CHED? Who can tell us what they are? They are the government agencies that are in charge of higher education opportunities for all Filipinos. Both of them have different costs for tuition and durations depending on the program. The employment rates of TESDA graduates are higher at 90% while CHED employment rates rate at 50%. This is so because of the different approach each take. TESDA in more on the practical application, skill-development based program while CHED on a more holistic formation and well-roundedness programs.

P: It’s easy for anyone to register. All you have to do is register and fill up the required information. After which, you can easily browse and search for courses, schools, and scholarships.

P: Upon clicking the register button, a fill up box appears and request for simple information

P: After signing in, next step it to create your profile. Then you can begin the search.

P: Searching for courses, institutions, or scholarship is made easy through the search button located on top. Simple type what you want to study and the site will generate the different schools offering such.

P: A side feature offer is the filter search. The degree type, region or location, and average tuition is categorize for easy elimination.

P: Finally, once you’ve identified your preferred course and school - quickly apply!

P: Edukasyon.ph is made available with any device may it be a smartphone, a tablet, or a personal computer. All you need is internet access to enter the site then you are good to go.
