National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of JSPM‟s Jayawantrao Sawant College of Pharmacy &

Research, Hadapsar, Pune organizes blood donation camp on 09 October 2014 at 11.00 a.m.

in college premises, in collaboration with Jeevan Blood Bank, Pune. It evoked good

response from the staff and student‟s of the college. The event was inaugurated jointly by Dr.

Vasant Bugade Director of JSPM Campus, Hadapsar and Professor Abhay Kale, Principal,

Jayawantrao Sawant institute of Pharmacy, Hadapsar, Pune. Principal and NSS Programme

officer of Jayawantrao Sawant College of Pharmacy & Research visited the camp and

motivated the students and teachers. Total 40 persons had donated blood including students,

teaching and non-teaching staff of our college. Simultaneously 100 girls students

Hemoglobin check up are carried out. Those having less hemoglobin content given

instruction regarding take up of fruits and food.

National Service Scheme Volunteers (49) and programme officer of JSPM‟s Jayawantrao

Sawant College of Pharmacy and Research attended a workshop organized by Pune Police

„Tarunai Online.‟ Programme was organized at Ganesh Kala Krida Hall, Pune. Speakers for

the programme were the celebreties like Nana Patekar, Achyut Godbole and Sanjay Avate.

Police Commissioner Mr. Satish Mathur and Assistant Commissioner addressed the

Volunteers. The progamme was mainly on the impact of the internet usage by the teenagers

and their social development.

Some of the points covered by the speaker were: “TECHNOLOGY IS A DOUBLE SIDED

SWORD.” It can be used for good purpose or for bad purpose. Our NSS Volunteers inspired

by the speech and the message was conveyed by them to the other students in college.

The National Service Scheme Unit (NSS) of JSPM‟S Jayawantrao Sawant College of

Pharmacy and Research, Hadapsar campus organized a Tree Plantation Programme under the

theme of MY EARTH …MY DUTY in the college premises on 28 and 29th

July, 2014.

During this, the volunteers planted 300 plants of different useful varieties. They also prepared

identification slips for individual plant for future follow up. NSS Volunteers also committed

themselves to nourish and maintain the allocated plant.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

Institute has organized Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on 02/10/2014. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Gandhi Jayanti. NSS officer Mr. K. R. Bobe

of the institute emphasized the importance of the mission of “Swachh Bharat‟ to all the staff-

members and Students and hence made them aware about the Swachh Bharat mass

movement. Students and staff members cleaned the college campus.

Zendewadi is a Village in Purandar Taluka in Pune District of Maharashtra State, India. It

belongs to Desh or Paschim Maharashtra region and belongs to Pune Division. It is located

24 KM towards East from District head quarters Pune. Total population of Zendewadi village

is 1,500 peoples and near about 314 houses. Special camp activity was conducted in

Zendewadi from 03/12/2014 to 09/12/2014.

First day: Students in group of five conducted a survey in village to understand the basic

problems and needs of the villager.

Second day: Students carried out Gram swachhata abhiyan in village.

Third day: Students planted trees nearby places of Zendewadi.

Fourth day: Students visited Zillha Parishad Prathamik Shala in Zendewadi. NSS students

motivated the children by involving in their classes and tried to explain the importance of

education.

Fifth day: Health check up camp in school. BG and Hb

Sixth day: Construction of Vanrai Bandhara.

Seventh day: Conlusion of the Special camp.

Institute has organized training to the students and faculty for disaster management on

27/10/2015. Disaster in life never knocks before the appearance and it causes great damage or

loss of life. Hence, it is very necessary to create awareness about disaster management and

tricks to tackle disastrous situations, among the students and staff. Mr. Anil Dandekar Former

Principal M.I.T. Schools Kothrud, Pune was invited as a guest speaker for the training and

lecture. Mr. Dandekar informed about different disasters and explained how urgent need is

there to manage post their occurrence.

Plastic Mukta Abhiyan

NSS Unit of the college has organized plastic mukta Abhiyan on 15/02/2016. All the NSS

volunteers cleaned the college premises and nearby areas. The main objective of the

programme was to eradicate the use of plastics. All the NSS volunteers followed the followed

the instructions given by NSS programme officer. NSS programme officer explained about

the danger of use of plastic bags like environmental damage, threat to animal life,

suffocation, pollution and fumes etc.

NSS unit of college organized a blood donation camp on 18/02/2016 in college premises, in

collaboration with Gholap Blood Bank, Pune. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Vasant

officer of Jayawantrao Sawant College of Pharmacy & Research visited the camp and

motivated the students and teachers. Total 40 persons had donated blood including students,

teaching and non-teaching staff of our college.
