KEGIATAN

Sebagai institusi pendidikan yang berfokus pada English for Education, ELC

telah memberikan perannya di kawasan timur Indonesia dalam membantu siswa-siswi

mempersiapkan diri untuk mencapai standar bahasa Inggris secara Internasional,

olehnya itu kegiatan yang diadakan di Papua ini bertujuan untuk pengembangan dan

pengajaran Bahasa Inggris (English for Academic Purpose -- IELTS) bagi sumber daya

manusia (SDM) putra – putri Papua, pegawai pemerintah dan lembaga non pemerintah

yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan Bahasa Inggris Akademi (IELTS)

para siswa-siswi dan pegawai untuk melanjutkan pendidikan di Luar Negeri, training di

Luar Negeri atau untuk Dunia Kerja, serta melatih dan memotivasi dan berani serta

percaya diri berbahasa Inggris.

dan siswa-siswi SMA Se-Papua yang berprestasi secara akademik di sekolahnya

masing-masing, dan diseleksi secara akademik untuk perekrutan dalam mengikuti

proses pelatihan Bahasa Inggris akademi yang diselanggarakan oleh BPSDM bekerja

sama dengan ELC Education.

PROSES PEREKRUTAN PESERTA

Untuk Peserta SMA, berasal dari beberapa sekolah yang ada di Papua yang

diseleksi menurut tingkat akademik dan pengetahuan bahasa Inggris. Perekrutan siswa

yang belajar diotonom (BPSDM), jumlah peserta yang ikut test sebanyak 60 dan

direkrut untuk belajar sebanyak 22 siswa-siswi dari berbagai sekolah di Papua, dan

siswa-siswi yang belajar di Sentani diikuti sebanyak 55 siswa-siswi SMA yang ada di

Sentani dan sebanyak 30 siswa-siswi yang terekrut belajar di Sekolah PEMDA Papua,

dan untuk perekrutan peserta Dosen, diadakan seleksi berkas dimana jumlah kandidat

yang terkumpul sebanyak 80 dan tersaring menjadi 49 peserta yang ikut test tertulis,

kemudian diambil 32 peserta yang terbaik untuk interview, dari hasil interview tersebut

yang lulus dan berhak mengikuti pelatihan sebanyak 32 peserta yang terbagi menajdi

kelas A dan B. Kelas A adalah peserta yang mendapatkan nilai prediksi IELTS antara

4.0 – 5.0 dan kelas B yang mendapatkan nilai akademik prediksi IELTS 2.0 – 3.5.

Dalam perekrutan, peserta harus melengkapi persyaratan dengan merujuk pada

persyaratan beasiswa luar negeri, sebagai berikut:


1. Untuk lulusan S1: umur maksimal 45 dengan IPK 2.7

2. Untuk lulusan S2: umur maksimal 45 tahun dengan IPK 3.0

3. Photo copy ijazah

4. surat keterangan sehat,

5. Kartu tanda Penduduk, dan

6. Surat Rekomendasi dari atasan

Media yang digunakan untuk merekrut peserta (staf) adalah lewat radio, banner, dan

undangan ke instansi terkait.

TEST YANG DIBERIKAN

Test yang diberikan dalam perekrutan ini di bagi menjadi 2 tahap. Tahap

pertama mencakup test Listening, Reading, dan Writing (hari pertama), kemudian Test

Speaking dilakukan pada hari kedua.

JENIS KEGIATAN PELATIHAN

Jenis Pelatihan dibagi menjadi 2 kelas, yaitu: Kelas Pra IELTS dan kelas IELTS.

Untuk kelas Pra-IELTS, peserta tetap diberikan 4 skills dasar bahasa Inggris yaitu:

Listening, reading, Writing dan Speaking yang berlangsung selama 4 minggu dan

kemudian dimasukkan dikelas IELTS.

TARGET NILAI (SKOR)

Peserta dipantau setiap minggunya untuk perkembangan nilai dengan cara

pemberian Weekly Progress Test. Dengan cara itu diharapkan peserta dapat

mengupgrade skornya secara akademik.

PROGRESS TEST


Progress test diadakan setiap hari Sabtu untuk mengetahui sejauh mana

perkembangan peserta dan dari progress tersebut akan diberikan penambahan kelas

bagi peserta yang lemah untuk skill-skill yang diujikan untuk IELTS Internasional test.

ELMINASI PESERTA

Berdasarkan kesepakatan bersama antara ELC education, BPSDM dan Peserta

merujuk surat pernyataan yang ditandatangani oleh peserta bahwa jika persentasi

kehadiran tidak mencukupi sesuai dengan kesepakatan bersama (80% tingkat

kehadiran) maka peserta tersebut akan dieliminasi dari program pelatihan ini.

Untuk kategori Dosen, Pada awalnya terdaftar 32 Peserta dan hanya diikuti oleh 30

Peserta aktif, seiring waktu pelatihan berjalan ELC Education melihat ada beberapa

peserta yang kurang aktif dengan alasan tugas luar kota, namun hal tersebut tidak bisa

ditolerir dikarenakan tingkat kehadiran dan nilai tidak mencukupi dari yang diharapkan,

dengan meminta pertimbangan dan petunjuk dari BPSDM, dengan terpaksa beberapa

peserta dieliminasi dari program ini.
