Kesimpulan Maxwell ini di dukung oleh:Heinrich Rudolph Hertz (1857 - 1894) yang membuktikan bahwa gelombang elektromagnetik merupakan gelombang tranversal. Hal ini sesuai dengan kenyataan bahwa cahaya dapat menunjukkan gejala polarisasi.
