The Microprocessors (1)

The microprocessor classifications:

1. based on the word length of memory addressing 2. the word length defines the basic resolution 3. 8 bit uP will perform 8 binary digit (0–255 dec) 4. 12 bit uP will perform 12 binary digit (0–4095 dec) 5. 16 bit uP will perform 16 binary digit (0–65535 dec) 6. have a powerful speed of operations

A uC, contains a CPU, Clock circuitry, ROM/RAM, and I/O circuitry on a single IC Package.

It offers several advantages over conventional multichip systems.

It has a cheaper maintenance, decreased hardware design effort, and decreased board density.
