New Potential ProductDevelopmentDurian known as king of the fruit was high

popularity among Malaysian.

Odor of durian was factor that contribute to thepopularity which some people regard as fragrant

but some people told it is offensive.

However, there are some new products from durianthat can undergo development process like Spraydried Durians powder, Durians rind pectin and

Durian paste.

Why it needs to develop?

Durians powder is in dried form, its shelf life more

prolonged compared to fresh durian.By using special technique like selective diffusion,

the flavor and smell of durians powder could beretained. (Chin Sung Tong, 2006)

Durians powder can be kept in cool or drycondition without contamination by microorganism.

It is also easily dissolve in liquid form like in wateror solid form like flour.

Durians rind can minimize the contamination ofagro-waste in environment. Thus, create an

environmental friendly.Heavy metal are very dangerous for our organ and

tissues where it tend to cause dysfunction inkidneys and reproductive system.

( Manahan, 1994)( Wong, W. W et al, 2008)

Hence, modification of durians rind could producean amounts of pectin that able to enhance theadsorption capacity of heavy metals.

Durians rind pectin can be used in industrial sectorwhere produce product containing toxic heavymetal. Quality product will leads to increasing ofindustrial profit.

Durian paste is another product that can givesignificant effect to economy. it have uniqueflavour with less odour of durian.

Its content 70% durian puree; 30% sugar.

It can increase market restriction like otherproducts because of its unique taste of durian.

Each new product develop have their own benefitand weakness but if it go through the challengeperfectly it can get up to high level of marketrestriction.

Durians products contain high level of protein andcarbohydrate content that fundamental in ourgastrointestinal digestion and absorption.

It is very crucial to produce from this exotic fruitbecause it can bring identity of Malaysia to all overthe world.
