Where is your hometown?Mount Gilead, NC

What’s your favorite weekend activity? I like to hunt, golf, and go on trips with my wife.

What is your favorite restaurant and menu item?I like Cracker Barrel’s chicken and dumplings. The meat loaf is great, too.

What type of pets do you have and what are their names? We have two weenie dogs, Lyla and Sophie (sisters), and a black cat named Luna.

What’s your favorite vacation spot and when were you there last?We love Asheville; we were married there in January.

Besides your job at Heritage, what are you good at?I’m good at construction projects, drawing and painting, sports, and being a good husband.

We distributed 6,990 lbs. of paper to 233 teachers at our 2018Paper Drive!

Thank you to all the Southern Maryland teachers who attended the paper drive. It was a success because of you!

VETERAN’S DAYVeterans Day is a federal and state holiday in all states. It is observed on the weekday nearest to November 11. The holiday honors all veterans of the United States armed forces.

A traditional observation is a moment of silence at 11 a.m. to remember those who fought for peace. This commemorates the cease-fire in the 1918 armistice, which was scheduled for “the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.”

The day of recognition of veterans of the Great War (World War I) was first proclaimed by President Wilson on November 11, 1919. In May 1938, the 11th of November in each year was declared a legal holiday and became known as ‘Armistice Day’.

With over 618,000 deaths, the Civil War claimed the most American lives, compared to 416,000 during World War II.
