Activity 11.1 Visiting the Learning Resource Center Resource Teacher: Teacher's Signature: School: Grade/Year Level: Subject Area: Date: To realize the Intended Learning Outcomes, work these steps:

1. Visit a school’s Learning Resource Center. Look around and see what resources and facilities are available inside.

2. Ask the learning Resource Center in-charge about how some equipment or facilities are used.

3. Make an inventory of its available resources and classify them according to their characteristics and functions.

An Observation Guide for a LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER

Read the following statements carefully before you observe.

1. Go around the Learning Resource Center. 2. Find out what learning resources are present. 3. Examine and describe how the materials are arranged and how they are

classified. Are they free from dust and moisture? Are they arranged for easy access?

4. Read the guidelines/procedures for borrowing of materials. Are these guidelines/procedures posted are available for the users to refer to?

5. Familiarize yourself with the guidelines and procedures. Take photos of the center (if allowed).

After you are through with your observation, classify the resources available that

you believe are most useful. Use the activity form provided for you.

Characteristics and Unique Capabilities

Teaching Approaches where the Resource is Most Useful

1. Print ResourcesTextbooksNewspapers Encyclopedia Journals Hand-outs Magazines

Students' vocabulary banks are expanded.

The ability to read has improved.

These are also useful resources for instructors in terms of planning classes.

In general, all of these print resources were capable of providing direction and ideas to students who were unfamiliar with the subject, as well as making them aware of the overall notion.

Mastery of lessons by students, inquiry-based techniques, and research-based instruction.

2. Audio ResourcescassetteAudio TapesCompact Disc (CD)

Frequently used for entertainment reasons. It could also be used for presenting reports and holding discussions.

Allowing students to examine the aspects of an audio production could be a successful teaching strategy because it improves students' listening skills.

3. Non-electronic Visual

Resources · Models Charts Mock-ups Board Displays Flashcards

These materials are durable and can be stored for an extended period of time. It is suitable for use as a display that provides students with information.

Experiential learning could be a teaching method that makes the most of available resources.

It could be inductive, student-centered, and activity-based. The emphasis in experiential learning was on the learning  process rather than the final output.

4. ICT Resources

direct instruction, which was largely teacher-directed. Lectures, questioning, explicit instruction, and demonstration are all examples of this type of strategy. It worked well for disseminating knowledge and teaching certain skills in a step-by-step manner.

Impression about the LRC: The school contains valuable resources for the teaching and learning process. The learner

was given electronic resources to employ in order to learn new concepts and ideas. Learning resources are things that teachers use to help students improve their skills and have

a variety of learning experiences. Because these learning materials assist the proper execution of the curriculum, all learning resources must be current, and the person in charge must know how to use them effectively.

ICT Competency Standards for Teachers (CHED Teacher Education Programs (2017):

ANALYZE Are the learning resources/materials arranged properly according to their functions and characteristics?

So far, the learning resources and materials have been well-organized according to functions and characteristics, as well as for everyone's convenience, needs, and interests. Materials that aren't working properly are placed in the left corner of the room to be repaired. The appropriate organization of learning resources makes it easier for teachers and students to find what they need, and it is more convenient for both teachers and students.

Do the guidelines and procedures facilitate easy access to the materials by the teachers? Why? Why not?

Yes, t he guidelines and procedures in place to make it easier for instructors to access these resources are all very precise, understandable, and simple to follow.

What are the strengths of this Learning Resource Center? The resource center's strengths include computers that are always available during classroom hours for students to use for research, based assignments, handout production, and other computer-based work.

What are its weaknesses? Some computers are not functioning properly, necessitating maintenance.

What suggestions can you make?

Page 4: fs1 episode 11 and 12

Because severe viruses were saved in the computer file system, I propose that ICT resources be given sufficient care and upkeep. As a result, most students and teachers do not insert their flash drives in order to avoid file corruption and virus proliferation. REFLECT

1. Which of the materials in the Learning Resource Center caught your interest the most? Why?

The books and teaching resources found in the library have sparked my interest the most. It appealed to me since it is well-organized in terms of functions, attributes, and applications. The majority of the volumes were dust-free, implying that they had been properly maintained.

2. Which gadgets/materials are you already confident to use/operate? Computer-related equipment, such as installation, java programming, and blogging, is something I'd like to learn more about.

3. Which ones do you feel you need to learn more about? I believe that for subsequent studies, I should enroll in such computer courses

and also seek tutoring from other experts in computer-related fields.

Activity 11.2 Observing Technology Integration in the Classroom Resource Teacher: Teacher's Signature: School: Grade/Year Level: Subject Area: Date: To realize my Intended Learning Outcomes, I will work my way through these steps: Observe a class for three meetings. Video-tape, if allowed. Step 2. Describe how technology was integrated in the lessons and how the students were involved. Step 3. Use the Technology Integration Matrix to analyze the technology integration done by the teacher. Step 4. Reflect on what you have learned. OBSERVE As you observe the class, use the observation sheets provided for you to document your observations.

Class Observation Guide

Read the following questions and instructions carefully before you observe.

1. What is the lesson about? 2. What visual aids/materials/learning resources is the teacher using? 3. Observe and take notes on how the teacher presents/uses the learning

resources. 4. Closely observe the learners’ response to the teacher’s use of learning

resources. Listen to their verbal responses. What do their responses indicate? Do their responses show attentiveness, eagerness, and understanding?

5. Focus on their non-verbal responses. Are they learning and are they showing their interest in the lesson and in the materials? Are they looking towards the direction of the teacher and the materials? Do their actions show attentiveness, eagerness, and understanding?
