Deposit RequirementThe required nonreturnable deposit for an architecturalwork, whether or not the building has been constructed, isone complete copy of an architectural drawing or blueprintone complete copy of an architectural drawing or blueprintin visually perceptible form showing the overall form of thebuilding and any interior arrangement of spaces and designelements in which copyright is claimed.py g

The deposit for a building that has been constructed mustalso include identifying material in the form of photographsthat clearly disclose the architectural work being registered Thethat clearly disclose the architectural work being registered. TheOffice prefers 8" * 10" good‐quality photographs that clearlyshow several exterior and interior views. In addition, theCopyright Office prefers that the deposit disclose the name(s)of the architect(s) and draftsperson(s) and the building site.In cases where the claimant is seeking registration for bothan architectural work and its technical drawings, the depositof a single technical drawing will suffice for both claims if theof a single technical drawing will suffice for both claims if theapplications are submitted together.

If the claimant is using eCO and the deposit is eligibleIf the claimant is using eCO and the deposit is eligiblefor electronic uploading, the claimant can upload the samedeposit for both applications. If the deposit is ineligible forelectronic uploading and the deposit must be mailed theelectronic uploading and the deposit must be mailed, theclaimant can select “submit deposit” for each claim, print thecover form for each claim, and attach both cover forms to theone deposit that will be mailed. If the claimant is using FormCO or a paper application form, the separate applicationforms for the architectural work and the same work’s technicaldrawing can be packaged with the deposit of a singledrawing and mailed together with the appropriate filing feesdrawing and mailed together with the appropriate filing fees.

The Copyright Office prefers the following in descendingorder of preference:order of preference:1 original format or best‐quality form of reproduction,including offset or silk‐screen printing2 xerographic or photographic copies on good‐qualitypaper3 positive photostat or photodirect positive4 blue‐line copies (diazo or ozalid process)
