ASTER (Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer) adalah instrumen/sensor yang dipasang pada satelit Terra, yang diluncurkan pada Desember 1999, dimana ini merupakan bagian dari NASA's Earth Observing System (EOS) bekerja sama dengan Jepang.

ASTER digunakan untuk pemetaan land surface temperature, emissivity, reflectance dan elevation.

Platforms EOS adalah bagian dari NASA's Earth Science Enterprise, dimana lembaga ini merupakan lembaga yang baik untuk penelitian biosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere and atmosphere.

• Citra resolusi tinggi untuk observasi permukaan lahan, air, dan awan dari panjang gelombang tampak hingga inframerah thermal untuk studi climatological, hydrological, biological, and geological.

• terdiri dari tiga subsystems: VNIR, SWIR, TIR

• 3 channels di visible dan near IR dengan resolusi spasial15 m

• SWIR-mempunyai 6 channels dalam shortwave IR dengan resolusi spasial 30m

• TIR-mempunyai 5 channels dalam thermal IR dengan resolusi spasial 90 m

• Lebar liputan 60km.
